Stability patch released

Today, another stability patch was released.

The patch brings improvements and resolves several issues and crashes. In addition to fixes for crashes which can occur (very rarely) on any system, stability on Max OS X 10.10 Yosemite, Intel graphics cards and AMD Radeon 3xxx/4xxx has been improved.

Also, Lua scripts are now handled in a more robust and user friendly way. As a consequence, modders can modify the game more comfortable, and people who have installed mods get better error messages if anything went wrong with a specific mod.

Please find the complete release notes here.

We know this is not a patch that brings new features, and we understand that many of you are waiting for that. However, we feel responsible that everyone who meets the minimal system requirements can play the game without issues. This is why we had to spend some time to develop this patch.

In the next days and weeks, we focus on developing new features as already announced earlier. For those who still experience issues, please send us an email (http://www.train-fever.com/about/). However, please first make sure the issues are not related to mods, your computer meets the minimal system requirements and that the latest drivers are installed.

We look forward to further developing the game!

Best wishes, the Urban Games team.

  1. Downloaded on mac but still crashes every time I load a game and it gets to100% on the loading screen, sound then goes of and screen goes black and then it crashes. Please sort this out, I bought this game for ยฃ20 two weeks ago but still haven’t had a chance to play it.

    • Unfortunately, the crash is a result of the specific combination of your graphics card (AMD Radeon HD 6750M) and OS X version (10.7.5). We have identified the problem, but haven’t come up with a practicable solution yet (one that doesn’t break other stuff).

We will test other approaches to solve the problem in the next days and get back to you as soon as we know more (please write to info@train-fever.com so we can contact you). Another option would be to upgrade Mac OS X on your system, especially since OS X Mavericks (10.9) and Yosemite (10.10) are available for free. Of course, unless you have good reasons not to upgrade.

      • It is not only OS X & Radeon HD 6750M problem… My game in latest update still crash (as same as post above). My pc – 2,4GHz C2D, 8GB RAM, Ati Radeon Mobility HD3650, Win 7…

        ๐Ÿ™ I’m soooooo disappointed

        • Please delete the directory โ€œtexture_cacheโ€ from your userdata folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{your user id}\304730\local) and try again.

  2. Nice to see the faces responsible for the game that’s made me `waste` so much time lately.
TF this is the most quintessential PC game in years – very challenging yet extremely rewarding.
Good job on the game mechanics – feels like a true sandbox (unlike other titles in the genre that emphasize bling).
    Keep up the good work!

  3. Thanks guys. Did not have any problems with game crashes but I’m happy that you care about those who have.

  4. Thank you for your continuous work on making Train Fever better and better! :O) After 80+ hours of playing I am very impressed about the stability on Ubuntu 14.04, and enjoy playing it very much!
Also thank you for making the signals visually functional – this brings a lot of life into the scenery and is fun watching! Will you activate the second type of signal that seems to exist already (block/path signal)? And of course it would be nice to have a distant signal with adjustable train speed reduction one day.
I curiously look forward to the new features you mention, especially the waypoint/track selection and the x-intersection/multiple switch for rails!

Thanks again & keep up the good work! :O)

  5. Firstly all of u are looking fabulous in the pic. Especially Mikael laughing ; unlike in the forum avatar ๐Ÿ˜‰
Secondly thanks for the patch as i needed it coz m travelling and have intel hd on my laptop.
Pleased to know that you r thinking about the issues and features. Next time I gonna search games by Urban Times in google.
Thanks for the support ypuve beeb providing

  6. Dear guys,

Many thanks for your game, it’s brilliant, and that comes from a TT’s long-years fan! Great job, and I believe that after you add more cargo features etc, the game will be perfect!

I do have two issues after the last update though.

    – Bus lines on streets are now highlighted by a dark red line

    – The longest trams do clog up the cities in larger numbers (around 9), they get stuck when entering any of the bigger passenger road stop.

    I’m playing on a late 2013 13″ MacBook Air.

Many thans for your great work and for fixing the issues ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I have player games for 25 years now. I played Railroad Tycoon when it was published. I played Transport Tycoon when it was published. After years of waiting, Railroad Tycoon 2 was published, and I bought it up front. Played it again just a year ago, and again enjoyed seeing the trains rushing and switching through four-track sections. I was enthusiastic when the one-man-wonder Chris Sawyer finally published the Transport Tycoon’s successor, Locomotion, and enjoyed it, even though it had its shortcomings. And I was so disappointed when the big-money Sid Meier’s Railroads was just nothing short of a toy railroad, with trains always stuck. And that the story of 3DTT ended so badly.

And now, even though this game can make me pull my hair out with its collision rules, I still think this is the best this genre has seen in ten years. I really see the potential of this being the best iteration of the genre. It just needs some work on the UX side, making building and upkeeping more enjoyable. Keep up the good work!

  8. Just curious, but I only see artists and a CEO in the pic. Who is doing the programming?

  9. Yes, I’ve been waiting 20 years for this and support the effort in every way.

Unfortunately, I too have been playing a lot less. I always end up with chocking traffic jams that stop all my buses, so they lose money. They also can’t bring passengers to my train stations and then the trains carry no passengers and lose money.

My balance goes negative and I can’t do anything because I run out of money and the game just spirals down into boredom. It tells me to replace older vehicles, but how with no cash?

I keep trying new things but eventually the same thing happens every time.

At the very least, give us the option to play with unlimited funds. At least we could keep playing, correct some traffic problems, replace vehicles and maybe have some fun.

Otherwise, it can get a bit tedious.

    • I have the exact same problem: TRAFFIC.

Every single time, after cities reach volumes of around 1500-2000 inhabitants, the streets just get jammed full of traffic and none of it is moving, buses get stuck, trams get stuck, no passengers can get to my stations, trains start losing money and BAM all over.

Even tried rebuilding entire cities with straight 4-lane streets and STILL traffic manages to get stuck.
I think the main problem is at the train station itself, there is just too little room for all the cars to drop off the passengers at the front entrance.
A small side-dropoff for the cars, and a main entrance for pedestrians would be a better option probably.

Anyhow, great work guys and really enjoy this, just like people above have said, best in 10 years easily.
But PLEASE…. fix the TRAFFIC. *sad face*

      Hug.

      • Just try to remove a road segment between towns! Traffic will stop! Maybe it’s a cheat but in my games it works.

        • Yeah, it’s a cheat ๐Ÿ™‚

What about in the cities? Does that eliminate the traffic in the cities too?

  10. I propose that the railway has the best custom line. Now what a route for newcomers. The game is about transport. Felt it best to join the shipping and air freight, of course I don’t know the subsequent DLC will there be, this is just a proposal. Please forgive me

At the same time also thank you make this fun game!

  11. I just wanted to comment that the game stutters with big pauses after a few minutes on a small map with big cities, but worse is that trying to quit the game freezes the whole computer for 10-15 minutes. Surely my 4 GB mem has been used up by the game, but I don’t think it’s normal to halt the system like that. Memory leak?

  12. Game is still crashing randomly after a minute or so……(it ran without problems with build 4414)

    My Machine:

    Intel i3-4010U @ 1.7 GHz
    4GB RAM
    Intel HD Graphics (2GB RAM)

Game is great by the way…….

  13. Hi Guys!

First of all, you’ve made a fine and detailed game! Good job!

    But:
I have a serious problem. After a couple of hours played the game starts to have pauses terribly. For example for every 5 sec of playtime there is a 10 sec pause/lag in the game.

It makes the game almost unplayable, that’s why I’ve stopped playing it.

As I saw the game makes saves of the size of 0,5 GB or so. That’s quite huge, also to handle these, can cause the mentioned pauses in game on autosaves and on other calculations.
Maybe there is something that needs to be optimized badly.

    My PC:
    AMD FX 8120
    ASUS M5A99X EVO
    8GB DDR3 1666MHz
    ASUS Radeon R9 270X TOP 2GB
    OCZ Vertex 3 SSD

Please do something about it, I don’t think my PC is the problem. =)

Thank you very much for your efforts and the good game,
    HP

  14. game freezes and does not start, apart for the music, did all necessary updates of drives etc etc nothing happens, says i played 2.6 hours, NO, i tried to start it for 2.6 hours., nice to hear you talk about patches bug fixes e.a. but where thef are they ? where can you download these. Also tried to download the game again to reinstall, even that does not seem possible ???
Thanks for any good decent intelligent response.
