Built a Center City Tunnel Station in 1928. Set it up with 5 lines running east and 5 lines running west. City population was around 780 in 1930 and reached 1500 population in 1950. All train routes were A > B on double line track lines with ‘Y’ junctions leading into their own designated platform. Was Playing on a medium map, easy, with no mods. Started with 4 train routes in the new station, then added new routes as time progressed to reach 10 routes total into this city. Used roads to dig in for the stations. Then laid and deleted track to level the station pit. Did notice that new city buildings were not constructed over the shallow parts of the tunnels. Guess there is a minimum depth to allow new construction over tunnels? Anyways, the city kind of has a nice look without all the typical tracks slicing through.

Use the link from your pic host to show the picture in an external frame.
The WordPress software use an fixed size, this is the reason why the image looks ugly.

Comparing your last 1928 screenshot with the second 1950’s one, it looks like over the years the game has shifted the center of town (highest buildings) from your original stations to the new location.
October 4, 2014 at 17:52 #10877matsv201ParticipantI have expermineted with this way of building station for a while to… i don’t have that huge of a city, but almost.
I found that having lines that goes right past the station increase capacity quite a lot. There have always been space between the station and the tunle for me to build traffic light.
Also i usualy build the roads quite a bit closer, the houses usually fill up the soil under and can be built almost ontop of the station, it look like a lot waste space to me….
But other, real nice.

I looked back at a 1928 save and the Land Value is the same then as it is now in 1950 (550 & 650/msq) Old city center didn’t lose value, the New city center land values just went astronomical.

It ended up with lots of wasted space on both ends of the tunnel station. In this pic you can see how the underground lines inhibited new building growth. Does anyone know if there is a minimum depth required for the foundations of new growth buildings? If I would of dug in the station a couple of meters deeper, would those vacant lots have skyscrapers now? http://i.imgur.com/hR2ExtB.jpg

October 6, 2014 at 11:42 #11026Smeagol01Participanthow do u make these tunnels i never seem to get 2 tunnels as close as you…..
October 6, 2014 at 13:01 #11035matsv201ParticipantSmeagol01, i had problems with that to, but you have to pull the second line next to the first all the way from the entrance to the exit, then it works… well, most of the times. Sometimes it dont work any way (if there are buildings to close to the entrance for example)
October 7, 2014 at 02:05 #11070Smeagol01Participanthmm or if the tunnel seems too long i get the dot but no rails displayed oO
