During a game on medium difficulty and medium map size the game crashed in the 1880’s. (nothing later than Prussians)

The screen suddenly went black and nothing would happen.

I rebooted.

The main screen would then start, but then after opening a auto saved game, it crashed, giving the same black screen, just as the game should appear.

I proceeded to delete all my saved games and TF would crash as I was deleting them. This happened 6 or seven times.

Now, with no saved games, TF crashes when I start a new game.

No solution could be found in the forum for macs.

Sometimes that will fix the errors. If not were there any system updates or major changes done to your PC’s hardware? (I refer to Macs and Linux based  machines as PC’s.)
