I am getting freezing every 5-15 minutes – completely freezes and does not come back. It is unplayable. I have Win 8.1, Radeon HD 7700 (latest drivers), 64bit, lots of free memory.
Fun game – if I could play it for more than a few minutes.
Do you have those freezes on a new game or only in later games?
I do have the same GPU and Windows.
What’s your CPU and do you have enough space on your C: drive?
If you game does really crash, we could have a look at your crash dumps if you could give me your steam display name.
My game also gets frozen. I can load the game, then it runs for some seconds to a minute, then freezes. Im in 1910 now (ive played games that were going fine up to year 2010 and beyond).
Got windows 8.1 aswell. Nvidia GT 640.
@mikael.: It freezes in new and old games. It started freezing about 15 mins in and then every 5-15 mins. I have a i5-4670K with 16GB RAM and at least 150GB of free SSD storage. My computer is idling when it freezes.
Okay, it looks like you’ve got some other program interfering with Train Fever.
Could you create a file of all running processes and sent them to us or post them in here.
wmic /output:c:\process.txt process get description,executablepath
This writes a process.txt on your c: drive.
The freezes do not appear only on ingame month changes?
I note that there was a patch. After patching it ran for 45 mins – at least 4 years worth of game a significant. When it froze it was mid month.

could you try disabling soundtrack output? This fixed the problem on my machine (freezes seemed to happen when tracks were changed). Also, using sysinternals’ process explorer (procexp), it helps on my machine to terminate the error reporting process that is spawned beside the train fever process and then resume trainfever.exe.

@dr1fter, read up about the soundtrack issue on the forums. Tried it and it didn’t have any effect. Not getting a crash so no process to terminate. The freeze is simply a totally unresponsive game.
@Badajoz: when the application hangs on my machine, the application’s main (and sole) process gets suspended (at least according to processexplorer). After some ~20 seconds, a parallel process is started (windows trouble reporting stuff). This process is spawned in cases where other processes become irresponsive (they do not have to crash). If you run process explorer in parallel to train fever, and investigate the process list closely, you will probably see what I describe. Terminating the parallel trouble shooting process and resuming train fever’s main process and then bringing back train fever to foreground fixed the described issue for me most of the time.
dr1fter — I don’t understand what you mean? processexplorer? Is this when in Task Manager, you are looking at the list of Processes? About 100 on my machine. Which is the “parallel trouble shooting” process? I would be glad to stop it if it would fix things, LOL.
process explorer is a more sophisticated variant of task mgr if you will. it can be retrieved from http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
in this case, the main advantage of pe above tasm mgr is the feature that pe displays processes in a tree structure (thus grouping child and sibling processes). also, it allows to find out additional process properties (such as a process being suspended) – and alter them.

The game works for like 15 min.
And then it starts to freeze and crash !
Over and over
The map is small and graphic to Low!
This is a serious issue !
