How passengers decide their route

Hello! Great to see another passenger transport game in development. Can’t wait for the release! 😀

However, I’m wondering how a passenger chooses his route. Is it line oriented or destination oriented? So if there are two parallel lines that both go to the person’s destination, will he pick the vehicle that comes first, or will he pick the vehicle from the line he chooses?

From what I understood from the gameplay demo video, passengers will pick the shortest route to their destination if there are multiple options. I might be wrong on this though.
