Main Cargo Hub?? – Train Fever /forums/topic/main-cargo-hub/feed/ Wed, 30 Apr 2025 12:18:11 +0000 https://bbpress.org/?v=2.6.13 en-US /forums/topic/main-cargo-hub/#post-18745 <![CDATA[Main Cargo Hub??]]> /forums/topic/main-cargo-hub/#post-18745 Sat, 30 May 2015 09:53:10 +0000 mchammerstein Hey guys. Can anyone tell me if i can set up a main cargo hub? E.g. A five lined cargo station that receives and distributes any and all cargo to different cities across the map. I have tried in vain to get one working and i am just wondering if i am missing something.

I have looked for a solution online but cannot find answer. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Hammer.

If I understand you right – you’re trying to deliver raw Timber and Oil to the city?….they don’t want that.

If I misunderstand you and you meant the ‘Goods’ product from the Oil refinery and Sawmill then, in that case, you probably have the same problem as me. I posted a few days ago trying to find out how we can ‘gauge’ or ‘control’ the demands of the cities. It seems to me that when you’ve supplied them with ‘enough’ goods from one industrial chain, then no other industry can get a look in. Or another industry might take over supply and your first industry will falter. Either way there seems to be a city ‘limit’ to the amount of Goods that can be sent to it.

Im trying to set up a main distribution hub so all finished goods arrive at one main cargo station to be distributed throughout the map. As far as i can tell all cities have differing needs for cargo and i find it easier to ship from a centralized distribution network, shunting goods to various locations as and where they are needed.

The 20min rule is one of the most frustrating issues in the game that urgently needs revision, it makes some sense with passengers, but it makes no sense at all with non-perishable goods. The rule for goods needs revision!

I’ve found that small dedicated freight lines working: commodity producer > processor > city terminal, is the system that works best in the game. These are best kept completely separate from your passenger network. Slow freight trains do no mix with faster passenger trains, as is true in the real world.

You need to make sure all your cities have 100% of their goods requirement satisfied to allow them to grow. Without this your game will not develop!

have fun
