I read in another forum about this problem.
He had the program raptr adjusting graphic settings, that caused the problem.
Uninstalling raptr was the solution for him.

Simon, this is in many games the case, look at Paradox Games, EU, CK, HoI etc etc. they all have this limitation and I guess some others too.
If you want to get achievements, deactivate all mods, start a small map and do the ones you wanna do and you’re fine, I don’t see a problem here.

Here’s the most recent statement from basil, that is more clarifying.

    @peycke

I can confirm this too, on Facebook, though in German, they said that they’ll release a new performance and bugfixing patch soon and that double track switches are high on their priority list:

Never heard of it, but that doesn’t mean that you’re wrong, of course.

Let me correct myself, in the germanspeaking area of europe this is a relatively new invention, as said, in Karlsruhe they did it, atleast in Germany, for the first time with Trams equipped for two powering systems, one for the normal train tracks which use a higher voltage than the tram tracks and one for the tram tracks inside the cities.
Thus the border between trams and “normal” trains is liquid, they move in the cities and for Intercitytravel they move onto the train tracks of the German Federal Railway, the Deutsche Bahn, and act as commuter trains.
I guess, in Switzerland this is maybe more unknown than here in Germany, but I don’t know, logically thought, since Trams got more power in their motors than busses, the Swiss people must be using them more often than we Germans do because of their mountanious terrain and cities and villages, but thats just a guess, I don’t have any official numbers at my disposal to prove this.

    A little offtopic:
On this picture you see a tramstation of the “Karlsruher Stadtbahn”, in the background you can see a regional train of the Deutsche Bahn and a ramp with tracks leading from the tram towards the regular tracks.

To be honest, I grew up in the region, thus my fascination especially for this tram-train-system, childhood memories you know ^^

Totally agreed for the pantographs, it annoys me a little everytime I see my trams with a pantograph pointing up into the air and only touching air, overhead wires for streets with tram tracks should be added.

For the trams travelling between cities on normal tracks, thats a relatively new invention, it first came up in about the 1980’s in the region around Karlsruhe and Karlsruhe itself in southwest Germany, hence this is called “Karlsruher Modell” in German.
I don’t know, if this can be implemented and even if, it should only be able from around 1980 onward so it is realistic, but you can alrdy, as a work around, build a street with tram tracks between cities to have Intercity Tram lines or, more simple, use busses for that purpose.
But neithertheless, if it can be implemented, I would like it.

Then I’m sorry lad but I don’t know of any way to enable additional vehicles in an alrdy running game.
Maybe you can do it by fiddling in the save game file itself but I’m not an expert in that field so don’t take this for granted.

Go to the advanced options when starting up a new game in the menu, there you can configure the new game more in detail, you can mix european environment with american vehicles, you can configure which town names you want to see, you even can chose to have both, american and european vehicles in one map.

This doesn’t seem faulty to me.
I guess that the train waiting on the railroad crossing has to wait because of a train further ahead on the line while the other train from the opposite direction waits because his way is blocked by the train waiting on the railroad crossing.

The design is inefficient but working, I suggest moving the signal, that forces the upper train to wait on the railroad crossing and thus blocking the switch, some meters behind the switch, so the upper train can wait at that signal without blocking the switch.

Either your track misses a piece of it along the way or a one-way signal is placed faulty and blocks the track or, if you want to buy an electric locomotive, you lack an electrified piece of track somewhere.

How long does it take for the iron ore delivery trucks to deliver the iron ore to the train station?
If it takes so long, that only a few units of iron reach the steel mill along with an equal number of coal units, it produces also very few good units.

Imho, you should also let a train transport the iron directly to the steel mill without a detour over the coal mine.

I don’t see, where it wouldn’t make sense to invest in new locomotives, by the time new ones appear, your old ones are probably that long in service, that their enhanced running costs due to their age are higher than the starting running cost of the new locos.
Additionally, new locos are often faster than old ones, either because they can climb inclinations faster or they just have a better top speed, thus they decrease frequency which in return gets you more passengers.
Only in freight delivery it can be the case, that older locos are better than new ones, because the industries are pretty fixed.
If they deliver to one city/industrie = 50 goods limit, to two 100, to three 150 and so on.

Removing the 20 minute rule for freight would mean a huge makeover the industrial part, that is work for atleast an expansion or even TF 2, but I know, what you mean, it feels akward to see factories in the middle of nowhere producing nothing, because the matching industries are outside the 20 minute radius.
They should always produce and deliver their good to the nearest customer, no matter how far they have to go.
Then your job is only to decrease the travel time of the goods by delivering them with your faster trains and trucks.

Yes things like non upgradeable roads when they cross raillines aren’t good, but I’m sure, they’ll change this eventually.

I never had terrain issues when building over a flat piece of land, I only have this sometimes when I build double/multitrack tunnels or bridges and the game gives out “terrain collision” or when I try to build out of a high elevated station. But most of the times, I find the issue and can solve it, it isn’t very obvious in the most cases, you need experience with the game for that, but I agree, this could be improved and more intuitive.

But I can’t confirm your problems with passenger train lines. All my lines have more than one station, in my actual game, my minimum is 3 stations with my second passenger line but those towns have a very long distance between them so in track length, it equals my first, some kilometers away parallely running, train line.
All of them make a profit.
So there must be a problem with your line management, maybe you use too less trains so you only attract a little number of passengers or you use too many trains and most of them drive near empty thus making debt.

    @larry

You misinterpret some thing when I look at your post after mine.

Rail crossings, you mean the one rails over streets? It works for me, what I haven’t checked is streets over rails but then this is a missing feature, not a bug.
Terrain alignement, I don’t know, what you encountered which you consider buggy, I got rarely a situation, where I have to say out loud “Wtf, this is a bug.”
20 mn rule is not a bug, it’s a feature to pose a challenge. If you want to implement the competition of individual traffic vs mass transit, you got to do it by some measurement and the fact, that people usually tend to live near their workplace, shopping place and so on, this is a good measurement at it’s core principle.
Sure, you could change that like increasing ot to 30 or 40 minutes or even an hour or add it as option for a custom difficulty grade, but at it’s core, it’s good and a part of the game, not a “gamebreaking bug”.
The map editor is a feature that many people wish for, but not a gamebreaking bug and it is clear, they had to fix more important issues like gamecrashes and so on.

    @Pasi
I won’t discuss with you any further because you’re just too stupid to get my message so I write it one last time clearly out and then, seriously, gtfo.

I talk about the state of the product, you talk about your perception of the product, which is bullshit, that comes clear, when all guys here read what you write, I think you just wanna spread hate and troll so I stop feeding the troll.

And I have done PR work myself and you have done PR work yourself, our whole lives consist out of PR work.
Everybody lies now and then, if people buy your lies, you did good PR work.

But to come away from the philosophy back to the practical, what you perceive as PR work, I did it also, I’m politically active and I made press statements, so I know do’s and don’ts.

And as a conclusion out of this knowledge, a Do, I stop feeding the troll now.

That they don’t post Answers in the sticky post doesn’t mean, that they don’t react to it, you see the answer and reaction in the patch notes.
What do you like more? More Dev’s of UG answering more questions of the community but decreasing development speed OR like now, only Mikael answers from time to time and they can do their job?
I think the latter is the best option.

    And to my graphical issue:
If you read the post, you see, why it took so long, first they had to fix huge bugs like crashes, optimizing the performance and so on, the important issues, you need to set priorities in a process like game development to get somewhere.
And, as they found out in the end, it is a very special issue only with Radeon HD 7700/7800 series, they had to dig deep to find this out.
You can’t solve every problem in a matter of minutes, if you think it’s that easy, you’re naive.

And yes, I play the, in your opinion silly, argument, that you have no idea what you’re talking about when you accuse UG of doing bad work despite you never have developed a game by yourself.
It’s like I critize the NASA and their Space shuttles (“Your shuttles are shit, russian Sojus capsules are way better!”) even though I never built a space shuttle by myself.

And I will keep bringing in this argument, that is not childish, that’s just the truth.
Yes, EA has a shit reputation despite their huge budgets, but that just means, that they’re too stupid to use their PR Budget correctly.
Paradox and CO are able enough to use their PR Budget efficiently. UG has nearly no PR Budget as a small game dev studio with a small and nearly unknown publisher on their side.
So it is no wonder, that Paradox and CO could create a much bigger hype about C:S, but the image of C:S starts crackling alrdy.
Stop desperately trying to bless C:S into the heavens and condemning TF into the hell, that is ridicolous and many of your points are just untrue. We can argue objectively or flame each other with calling bad names and lies, it’s up to you to decide.
