Yes it is possible.  It was in one video, I don’t remember which one

Thanks for the new videos. That is great you reached the 1960s, there is not so much videos in this period ! 🙂

Concerning what ILT and I were saying, I think you missed it.

Let see with a real exemple close to where I live :

Thalys high-speed trains cover two major lines : Paris-Brussels-Amsterdam and Paris-Brussels-Koln. However a passenger who wants to go from Paris to Brussels doesn’t care whether his train goes to Amsterdam or Koln in the end : he just takes the first that comes. Do the passenger in Train Fever have the same behaviour ? I hope so for realism.

With the experiment I suggested, we could determine if frequency is the most important criteria or if it is only the first train that comes that passengers take like in real life.

    Hi Mansen

Might you try another experiment for me ?

I would be very interested in knowing the results of this :

1 : Build rails between two cities and set bus lines to cover each city.

2 : Set two identical passenger lines between the cities, but for example one with one train on it and the other with two trains, so that the frequency is different between the two lines.

3 : Report which line do the passengers use. Do they take the next train that comes, or they only take the line with the best frequency ? That is the question !

Tell me if it is not clear, as I don’t write perfect English ^^

I would be glad to see a video which shows the latest vehicles ! For example I have only seen the French TGV in terms of high-speed trains. Are there others ? And in general I have not seen videos that cover this period, so it would be interesting, if you have time to play and reach the 1990s 🙂

Very interesting ! Many would build a bridge upon the railroads to link the branch on each side of the line and avoid crossovers and signals, but your system is clever and more realistic when it is about connecting a small freight branch to a main line. Now that I have understood where to place the signals so that no trains are blocked, I will use it when I play the game.

    Thanks !

All these videos are great !

    For the Beta testers :

I wonder whether there is a difference between bus and trams ? Are there advantages and drawbacks to use bus or trams ?

And about signals, has anyone met some configurations where trains crash each other ? And is it easy to deal with it ? I used to play Simutrans and it is sometimes very hard to remove the trains.

How good is the pathfinding in TF ? Do the people travel realistically ?

I remember in CIM2 when the transport networks became complex that it was a pain to follow a passenger because he needed to take several metro and tram lines whereas he just had to take one to reach his destination.

Train Fever is first a game about trains, not trams and metros. Of course all these kinds of transport are linked and I’m glad that buses and trams have been implemented, but I understand that city transports in TF are not as deep as in Cities in Motion… For me I prefer that TF becomes a great intercity-train video game with very efficient signals and pathfinding implementation which are crucial for such a game, and if I want to play with metros and trams, I play Cities in Motion ! That is just my opinion… 🙂

It would be nice to have some screenshots of freight trains, freight stations and industries. There are not any in the Screenshot part of the site, neither in the videos !

Can we make trains wait in a freight station until it is full ? Can we create way-points to tell a train which track to go (we could want to have a dedicated track for freight traffic). That would be nice features.

And what will be the available goods to transport ? Coal, cereals ?

    Thank you

IRL bus and trains depart from depot at regular times so they join the previous bus only if it has been stuck in a traffic jam or anything else, whereas in the game buses will be together from the beginning, that is not realistic. That’s why I think regulation on buses interval would be good and needed for the game.

    Okay fine ! 🙂

However Axel Springer has raised a interesting point : are way-points available in Train Fever ?
