Alex, I’ll await your RZD carriages with anticipation then.
Would you happen to have a link to the Chinese fan site? There’s quite a few of their  trains I’d love to see in TF as well, like the CRH1. It’d be great if they happen to have them!

Excellent! Glad to see something very modern I can use in TF alongside the, shall we say, German ‘sphere of influence’. I’ve seen a repaint of the EW IV in RZD livery in a wandering screenshot on Steam, any chance that might get uploaded as well?

    Mikael,

Please do keep up the good work. Overall, I’d say people are still very excited about the game and eager for the USA DLC. Personally, I hope that you’ll be able to add the Acela Express and get some high speed in as well, but I’ve been enjoying the game tremendously already.

On topic though, I think that should you be able to refine the main connection, there’ll be a solution for both sides. People that want to cheat or are just uninterested in the simulation and prefer just making pretty maps (think model railway builders for example) will be able to use the binary patch/mod to remove the system entirely, and those interested in playing the game and work with the simulation would be able to enjoy the connection system once refined.

As far as the map that I started the thread for is concerned, I’m afraid I had to use the binary patch seeing as 4 towns were now un-modifiable, and I’m on the side of fans that just wants to lay track and watch my trains chug along, but I can see your reasoning for keeping the system in as well once it works as planned.

Thanks for reaching out to us and giving us an update. Keep up the great work, stellar performance from a team consisting of less than 10 people, I’d say.

gGeorg, I think you’re being a tad more hostile than need be.

1 – There’s a hotfix on the German modders site that essentially removes the feature from the game which can be found on http://www.train-fever.net/index.php/Thread/2230-TFPatchPlus . Use that in the meanwhile. Even if they merely improve it and you want it gone, said hotfix will remove the function for you.

Also, let’s try to give them a bit of fair due, nearly all the western trains that can be found for TF (think ICE3, Stadler Flirt, NS Class 1600, …) can all be found there. If anything, the German love for simulators is what’s giving this game its mods (+ of course the fantastic people at transportgames.ru).

2 – Cities: Skylines is a different game, focused on picking up where Sim City 4 left off. Thus, the focus is on city building and inter-city cooperation rather than transportation networks (with a particular attention to trains). Both games should be able to co-exist, similarly to how Cities in Motion 2 existed alongside Cities XL & Sim City [2013].

A trailer for Cities: Skylines can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAyVbD4ndXM
No offense meant, just adding some nuance.

    Regards.

    Amazing work, Marius!

Huge fan of your JR E233-1000, fun little regional train that gets tons of usage on my maps.
Personally, I love high speed trains; the more the merrier.

Considering I’m a fan of different regions (US, Russia, Japan), I’ll eagerly await more. Any plans for the E223 or the Tsuyama Express though? Or the 800 series Shinkansen? Or the E7 series?

Regardless, keep it up, I’d say!

Have to agree with Ola (and hope his schedule’ll cut him some slack soon! :P). No need to mod it out, leave it as is for those of us that don’t mind suspending our disbelief, you can make a loop and use a waypoint of some sort.

Amazing work so far guys, really loving all the Russian sphere trains.
Any plans for the Velaro RUS/Sapsan, the Sokol or the ER200?
You know, just to get a flagship high speed train to join along with all the amazing goods and passenger trains.
    Regardless, keep it up. 🙂

Alle hulp is welkom! Heb ook een bericht naar de NMBS gestuurd met dezelfde vraag, maar heb nog niets teruggekregen.

EN (different paragraph, not a translation):

Shame there’s so little interest in our brave little trains. I’ve taken the liberty of making this same thread on train-fever.net, there’s a few trains we have that’d look great amongst the amazingly detailed material already made for the DB, NS and RZD by modders. Again, anyone willing to try their hand at them would make a lovely holiday gift and I’d be happy to paypal them a small amount for their time!

    Amazing work!
Loving this train, have it on a scenic, mountainous line in nearly all my games.
I’d love to see more Japanese rolling stock in game!

    Keep it up!

Hell, I’d even PayPal for it as well.
Or hope that Urban decides on a ‘Japan DLC pack’.

Any updates? Is anyone still trying to make Belgian trains? Or is the NMBS never going to be represented? 🙁

You can, last time I checked.

SeraPhine, two exits have quite the advantage though, you increase your catchment area substantially because of it. Instead of having to go around your tracks and your station, you allow the pax to enter from both sides, so if you’re feeding into a certain district (leisure, jobs, housing), you can set your train to arrive on whichever side has that district you’re feeding immediately.

Honestly, I think that we’re perhaps cutting the corner a bit. In heavily railed countries in the West like Germany, Belgium, France, Netherlands, … -which is what Urban has taken their vision from I’d assume, what with them being Swiss- Trains are normally assigned a platform in the rl timetables. Example: Antwerp Central – Brussels South | 8:47 | IC | Platform 3. However, there are always going to be unforeseen circumstances.

It’s exactly to brace against those anomalies that control centers can switch trains and platforms when needed, and dynamic information signs can inform passengers on the fly with a minimum of delay. Yes, trains are not 100% bound to a platform, but as seasoned rail travelers can tell you, they do have a platform they’re normally supposed to be at each time. That’s the first thing I’d like to contribute to this thread, and this discussion.

Secondly, there may be a different way to solve this issue than simply waypoints or dynamic platforms. Instead, a ‘block spacing’ could be implemented. One could ask the trains on a route to keep a distance of 1-2 stations or even a distance of a certain amount of (travelling) time. Timetables seem less practical in a game that makes the (un)loading of a train last a month, but it may be possible to add an option to tell trains to keep a distance of say, 1 minute minimum or 2 minutes between each train.

That, plus the fact that the game does already allow you to select a platform via clever use of the signals and signal placing should give us much more control over the system with a minimal need for intervention/modification. It’d just require more usage of the travel time-keeping mechanism.

If we do get control over junctions though (or a timetable-esque solution is implemented), I’d love for it to be an unlockable. Make junctions/waypoints only be controllable in a fixed radius around a signhouse/control center; only allow time-spacing after the construction of a corporate HQ, that kind of thing. It’d really add to the theme of ‘rail transportation evolving over time’, and having signhouses/control centers next to your rails would be a neat realistic touch.

I get that many people want to continue the parallel between this and OTTD, but it isn’t OTTD (and it really isn’t TTD either). There’s stuff you can’t do in TF that is possible in OTTD, but TF does allow for quite a lot that OTTD doesn’t do. Try giving problems an objective attempt to solve rather than lamenting the lack of OTTD’s solution. For example, the signals are getting slammed way harder than they deserve, they do allow for quite a lot of ingenuity already as is.

You can technically build two (1 to)5-track stations next to each other and then group them. That way, you’ll have a (maximum) 10-track station with 2 exits.

    Vraagje:
