I’ve never even been close to accomplishing to make a city like that.

Makes me think that I’m playing the game completly wrong! 😛

What’s the point of the game then?

I mean, it’s about trying to make your lines as efficient as possible. What fun would it be if agents would wait for hours (real time) to get from point A to B?

It’s not like it is impossible to let a line have only 20 minutes of waiting time, in fact, it’s really easy. Most of the time 1 vehicle is already faster than 20 minutes and just adding another vehicle could do the trick.

You wouldn’t wait 4 hours to get to another city by train either, would you? And 4 hours would probably be a couple of years in-game time…

Just get the landscaping tool and make the terrain a bit higher if you really insist in making a stupid route straight down the cliff of a mountain…

Kind of annoying that people who do not know how to play this game come here to complain that the game doesn’t work…

It’d be a lot easier if a train would just simply state how much weight it can pull. That way you can easily calculate how many wagons you can attach.

I guess for the train geeks among us it’s nice to see how much power and tractive effort a train has, but for the game it isn’t very neccesairy or useful.

You need to let the train closest to the depot ”Go To Depot” I think… IDK, I don’t really get the reasoning of the signals either from time to time. They seem so inconsistent.

You could also just start a new map, take a huge loan and experiment with signals.
If you do that, you’ll directly see how AI will respond to different situations.

Spreading hate? How are we spreading hate?
Stop playing the victim card here, it definitly doesnt work.
We stated reasons why we think boats and planes wouldn’t fit in the game, while you were basicly just saying ‘I want trains and if you don’t than that’s your problem’…

Give us a few reasons why you think it’d be a good idea for the developpers to put a lot of work into making boats and planes instead. It’s not like they can just make a bunch of 3D moels and call it a day. Theyll need to do research, make animations, change the economy and probably a lot of other things, so don’t just say that ‘planes and boats would be a good idea’, but actually come up with a few arguments as of why you think the devs should put a lot of time into adding them.

Mooi, mooi, ook mooi, waar vind ik het?…
    Sorry… Heel flauw… 😐

Looks really good, never thought you could make stations and busstops this realistically!
I’d like to see more screens! 🙂

Yeah, you need to activate the game on Steam, even if you’d buy the retail version.

The only ‘advantage’ is that you have a box and a CD. And I wouldn’t really be surprised if the CD wouldn’t actually contain any game files, seeing how Steam works lately.

Saying that churches (buildings with a destinct architectural style and very common in European towns) shouldn’t be in the game because you don’t like it is probably the stupidest comment I have ever read on this forum. It’s ridiculous that you even think that way.
I’m actually for adding churches and cathedrals because they could really add a lot of variety to the towns.
But how did we get here from boats/ships? This topic isn’t even about religion or landmarks…

    To get back on topic…
How did you actually visualize ships in the game? Were you talking about very big ships that would go from one side of the world to the other and cruise ships or about small ships that sail down rivers.
Because I can sort of get small ships that would go down rivers like it were the Rhine ‘Cause I actually visualized ocean liners…

The box will be in German, but English will be an option for the game is what the devs said a while back, perhaps they’ve changed that now though, IDK.

I don’t mind ships at all actually, but my point is that the way this game works ships probably wouldn’t really work. I think the rivers are waaaaay too small in the maps I’ve seen to actually make ships and such work realstically.

However, I played Transport Giant for a long time and there was one map that was great. In that map there were 2-3 big towns and all recources (oil) were on islands in the sea.
I could see this work on TF as well. A bunch of small towns seperated by a lake or something. In that case you could use a trainline around the lake or use boats to link the towns together.

Planes however… I seriously don’t see how that could work properly. The maps are too small for that. A plane would only need 20 seconds or so to cross the biggest map.

So I’m pro-boat, if there will be maps that suit them.
I’m anti-airplane in every way I guess. (Please NSA, don’t take this out of context…)

I’d actually prefer if they don’t add planes or ships. I don’t see how they would be realistic on such small maps. Ships are way too slow and big and planes are way too fast and I think it’d ruin the experience.

I don’t mind airports or harbours to make a new sort of industry, I think that’s a great idea actually. I’d love to see a harbour with goods that are ”Imported Goods” or something and airports to which a large number of people want to go to, but I think it’d be a bit ridiculous to have a plane fly just 16 KMs to another town at 500 MPH or to have a gigantic ocean liner on a tiny canal.

Not to mention that you’d have to build a canal to be able to use boats properly, which is hugly inefficient compared to rail- or roadtransport

So I’d actually say, don’t bother with planes or ships…

The game won’t have MP at release, but the devs have said that they want to look into it.

Download Blender, open it, uninstall.exe is the way most people mod… And I don’t blame them.

It is really complicated, it isn’t just like you can make a highly detailed model in half an hour. So the first step is to determine if you are willing to put a lot of time into making mods, because it will take time to learn how everything works and it will be a thing of trial and error. I kind of liked making mods, but I stopped, because it takes a pretty big ammount of  time to model something from nothing, I had other stuff to do so I just didn’t care for it enough to continue modding. (I made car models for GTA IV if you’re wondering.)

And don’t think that it is just making a 3D model, oh no, no, no, no mister, you also have to make textures for your 3D model. However making textures was the most fun thing IMO, that’s why I kept making skins for cars after I quit making 3D models.

It’s not like you are the ultimate modder once you got a modding tool, hell no… I’m going to tell you a little secret. You will suck at it at first. I can promise you that. So did I, so did everyone else… I guess…

Are you still into the modding scene?

Yes – Great, I hope somebody with more knowledge can help you! Good luck and have fun! Though I will just advise you to just google. It’s not like I don’t think that people can’t help you here, I guess it’s quite the opposite. But it takes a lot of time to learn how to mod and so it takes a lot of time to explain everything to you. So that’s why I suggest you just use google because there already have been tons of people more than willing to explain how to mod. I’m not saying that people here are not willing/shouldn’t help you, it’s just that there are so many tutorials and such online that will probably make things a lot easier for you to understand as upposed to messages and comments on this site (which to begin with, isn’t about modding, but about a game). And don’t think that I’m going to explain anything to you, it’s been a long time since I made my last model and I’m probably not the best teacher.

Are you still into the modding scene?

No – Well, if you still think you are, keep on trying I guess, but if the answer is no, you should seriously start to wonder how bad you want to be able to do it.

Now young grasshopper, this was the first lesson for today.

Note that this was totally based up on my experience about modding for ANOTHER GAME!
