I also think railway tunnels and bridges should have there specs, maximum length, loading and speed and stuff. The more you advance the better of those will be available. This way you won’t be able to cross big waterways in the beginning and really have to climb to cross mountain ranges.

Also there should be connections to the outside of the maps and harbours and airports. So in some places there should be minimal height for bridges, so large ships can pass.

I like the current game very much, but understandably there are many flaws and things missing being their first game. In the suggestions fixes tab there are also many good ideas. It would be way easier to build a flying junction if the tunnel mouth and slope would be able to have straight walls. This would also make mountain railways more aesthetic by making steeper cuttings or building elevated railways in cities. On the other hand bridge pillars should be able to be place more dynamic so you can cross other infrastructure easier or build elevated metro systems.

Another thing that would be fun to have is the fact that the railway signals, rail track gauge and electrification have their own specifications, so you will have to replace the older ones in time to have greater capacity, safety or the highest allowed speed. So you will have to change to light signals and cab centered controls in time. Coming to safety, the options of trains failing and stuff like that would be fun and so be able to change the maintenance budget to optimize this. With other transport company’s like in OTTD you would also have to change these if you want to make you’re newly bought railways inter operable. Or build trams and metro systems that will be cheaper by having other specifications.

Also the station building should be revised. Building platforms should be done by draging platforms next to rails and afterwords ‘upgrading’ the platforms by deciding how to put the platform roofing. That way you can do simple changes to the station without having to demolish the whole station. If you really want to have a special station, like liege ore something, you could have some restrictions like the platforms have to be straight for a certain distance. Also having 2 exits will be more easy and you can have 2 different kind of exits. You can keep the old exit on one side have the majestic entrance and adding a more modern exit on the other side so they look more like stations do nowadays. I do think thought it is important to have the ability to building the stations from 3 different approaches, either by first building the track, the platform or the station main entrance. I also think that there should be an interface to build underground stations so you can put railways underground or built metro systems with other specs as mentioned above.

You should go to the support tab.

and to make dive-unders more compact with straight walls and a square entrance like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxQbl9yjMc4

and to make bridge pillars like these.

you can do that yourself fairly easily. It is just a parameter in the game configs, number of square kilometer per industry/city

Any plans on train spacing, trains still do not spread evenly

yeah, trains should be spaced by signals, but only for safety reasons, not for scheduling. if you have 4 lines sharing a piece of track its near impossible to let each line run at a set interval and that should be fixed.

As you said, there are for telling the the track ahead is clear, not for spacing trains. I some parts of my track have 3 or 4 lines runing over them so I can’t use signals to space them. Also it is so much easier if there would be just setting a timer, because now I make the end of a line single track to let the wait, but it’s a pain in the ass figuring out how long this piece must be and it will vary with different trains or when you up or downscale the frequency. As long as the spacing of trains doesn’t work I just think this is the best solution and not to hard to build

Since there not implementing some kind of timetable, I would really like to see some kind of sign for trains where only 1 train would be able to pas every given time e.d. 5 minuten, I dont think this would be to hard to implement and it is an easy way to space out the trains. You just put one of those signs on the end station of the train, where normally trains aren’t really passing through and like in real life the train will leave at an excact interval. even better would be if you could set the waiting for only 1 line, so other trains will pass through, but the train from that line won’t be able to.

sometimes it helps to build a busline in the area where you want the town to expand

I am not exactly sure, but since you have the 20 minute rule and if you have one line connecting many cities, passengers will have to wait less then if they have to chance every now and again and thereby will be faster and will travel longer in your train

that is the big reason why you build train lines, the busses and trucks get stuck in traffic, trains wont get stuck that fast and thereby give a more reliable service

also instead of having a depot it would be fun to have the ability for a marshalling yard and more realistic time so at night you have to put them there and the time table could be more realistic and you should repair the trains by night
