Lol well, it wouldn’t be the first time a card has been DOA. I would highly recommend doing some extensive stress testing on your graphics card, as it shouldn’t have any trouble at all with train fever.

It’s best to get these things returned asap if they’re buggered, especially if you got it online.

Just fyi, My somewhat ancient AMD Radeon 6870 1GB has no issues what so ever with tring fever.

I assume you’ve assembled the PC correctly, and have the required power being supplied to the GPU. I made the mistake of only connecting 1 of the 2 PCI power connectors a while ago, in my haste to rebuild my PC, that had some pretty odd effects. Luckily it hasn’t done any damage!

There’s a stress and error checking program called OCCT you should take a look at.

Also check you’ve seated the card correctly, usually it just won’t work at all, but sometimes can give wierd artifacts like you’re seeing.

Hope this helps! Sorry to keep saying it might be your card, but new cards can be just as unreliable as an old one in my experience! (I’ve had to return more dead new cards, than replace dead old ones!)

I spoke too soon about my high speed map length train. It turned out I had a traffic jam because somehow, on my main line, a cargo train got stuck going the wrong way and just parked in the middle of my line. Lol as soon as I fixed it, my profit on my express train dropped into the red. Lol so I closed it pretty quick.

Nope train depots are available from day one. Very odd bug.

You are aware that train depots can only be placed at the end of a piece of track aren’t you?

They’re not stand alone buildings like stations.

That to me, looks like the signs of a dying graphics card. But then TF is known for some odd bugs. And windows 10 is known for downloading old drivers. Lol

All I can suggest is trying to redownload the latest drivers from nVidia. Failing that, if you use steam, do a integrity check on that game.

If it is your  graphics card trying to take early retirement, you should try some other games, high end demanding ones. If they’re all fine, then your gfx card is probably OK. If not, you may need to return it/but a new one.

Graphics cards can be highly unpredictable with their life spans.

What’s the maximum temperature your graphics card runs at while playing TF?

I used to live in a small town called Wadebridge, between Bodmin and padstow.

There used to be a line running from Bodmin parkway station to padstow, via Wadebridge. But its been closed so long(before I even moved there) that it’s now just a cycle path along the river. It would be nice to re-open the line, but there’s half a town in the way now. Lol a tram line would be good though.

I’m in 1960~  in my current game now, and I just build a high speed line from one end of the map to the other, with only 1 stop in the middle. And my God, most trains take a while to turn a profit, but this one was so full by the end of the first year, I had to upgrade the line to a double track and put a second train on. Lol not impressed though, I brought a 180kph train and cars, but it never gets above 130 🙁 maps too short. Lol

Looks like long distance is the way forward in TF.

And yes, supplying a city with 2 different goods is bad for both industries. Same as supplying an industry from 2 separate sources. Ruins it for me.

Don’t i know it… ;-) Not that i know much about Cornwall ( Very beautiful ! I ‘know’ it mostly from Inspector Wycliffe and the Coast series, must be wonderful to live there  😉

Lol Cornwall LOOKs nice, but is by no means a nice place to live, hence why I left. Lol nice to visit, but if you wanna live there, you need to be loaded! And live with the fact, that all summer, you can’t enjoy any of the things you moved there for, cos its too damn busy! Lol all the beach car parks are full, beaches are packed. Heck, I couldn’t even take the dogs to the woods cos that carpark was full too. Lol Cornwall actually NEEDS its railways back, because the towns and roads just can’t cope with the traffic. In the winter, my drive to work would take 7 minutes. In the summer, it could take up to 30!…. I lived 2 miles away. Lol

Anyhoo, back to TF. Your start looks pretty good so far. Though I did see a train with no cartridges on your tempe-anheim line. Lol

Also, you should keep auto replace for horses off until you get trucks. Because your horses will get old just before new trucks come out, then be replaced, only to really need replacing again, because they’re too slow.

I’ve still not got past 1956… Not for going bankrupt, but out of bordem. Usually by then I have every city connected by rail. And a few select industries at near Max output.

That no main connection mod allows you to delete all roads… It’s what I use cos the main connection detection is still buggy. You can build 10 bypasses, but still not be aloud to delete the 200 year old dirt track.Lol and in some cases, not be able to upgrade a raod cos of a ‘not enough space’ error, when there is in fact, loads of space. Lol

They should have named it “bankrupt fever”… Lol

But to be honest, this ‘game’ is more of a sim. It’s more in tune with real life than openTTD, except for a few dumb ideas.

I live in the UK, and I used to live in Cornwall, most of the railway there has been shut down in the last 30ish years due to cars being cheaper and faster to get to where you want.

Most of the railway now just does vintage steam train rides.

Even though I love trains, I’m not gonna catch a bus to the nearest station (£5 and 30 minutes), to catch train to the city (£15 and 1 hour). When I can do the whole journey by car, and use less than £20 in fuel and parking, and do the whole trip in under an hour.

So the passenger part of train fever makes sense, annoyingly, the cargo however, is still annoying. Lol

Passengers will still take the quickest route to their destination. Which later in game, is via car, because cars are quicker overall. No walking to a bus stop, to go to the station, to then wait for a train, then ride it, to then catch a bus to their destination.

One exploit, I shall call it, is to make roads you’re not using for busses or trucks, extremely windy and long, and use the slowest road available. So it’s no longer quicker for car travel.

Or use the no main connection mod, and remove them entirely. Lol

Otherwise, you need to use small low capacity, but fast cheap trains so there’s no waiting at your stations.

But then the running costs will get you eventually.

Basically, how the game is, its so far for me been impossible to fill a 200 capacity modern train, without exploits or mods. Lol

No, stations have built in signals.

So just put a one way signal just before entering in X crossing. And another facing the other way, about a train length from the X crossing. So any outbound trains stopping don’t block that crossing for trains coming in.

That’s assuming your double track is 1 way per track.

I hate that, and its why I play with the no connection mod enabled. Lol

I only use it to make sure I can delete a nuisance road should I need to.

Although I have been known to delete a road to stop goods walking to cities instead of taking my train…. Still don’t know why it does that. Lol (train travels at 100kph, walking 5kph…Hmmmmm, the train depot is even unloads in the middle of blue zones, but cargo will still try and walk it. Lol)

If you’re not fussed about achievements, then I suggest enabling the mod. If you’re trying to unlock the 1900 and 1950 start, then you just need to persist. Lol

One of the latest updates added the ability to select which cargo the cars can carry, open wagons for example can carry coal, or iron ore. You need to select which one you want now, no more auto selection!

So if you have a train going from a coal mine, to and iron ore mine, then a steel mill, you need to make half of your train coal, and the other half iron ore. This is done via the buy vehicles menu, when you select the open wagons, or whatever, there a little icon to click on its stats page to select what cargo it will take.

    Same goes for cargo trucks.

    Hope that helps!

I think he means, with the windows opening thing, that sometimes, usually when selecting vehicle replacements, you open your lines manager, it opens in the middle of the screen, and takes up most of .

Then you click replace, it opens up a new window, above it, taking up more screen, then you click compose vehicle, and then that windows opens in the bottom right, almost entirely off the screen.

I thin I would prefer the windows to just open above the last one in most cases.

Keep in mind, that I use the latest build 6219, and play in a fairly low resolution laptop screen (1366×768)

It doesn’t happen so much on a full HD screen.

I gave up on busses and i just use trams now.. lol

my busses kept taking wierd routes to bus stops, even though, for example, i’d just have 1 route go right up the center of town and back again, they’d still end up avoiding certain roads and going around the block. I think the cities roads may have minor or invisible gaps in them.

Trams need tracks, so trams go where i damn well tell them to go. lol Job done. lol

(plus later in game, intercity trams look cool)

I have a very old (2011) Acer 5740G and it runs this game pretty well (be it at lowest settings @ 1366 x 768)

This thing is only running an old Intel i5 M430 2.7GHz, 4GB RAM and a Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB

I get fairly decent FPS, but it does lag quite badly during late game, at the end of month (running costs), and year (running costs + auto save)

    Still, its fully playable.

My main home PC, which is an AMD 8320 4GHZ, 8GB RAM, and AMD 6870 1GB runs it perfectly, but in late game, it still suffers from the lagging.

I had this problem too. Turns out, if you want a bridge, or tunnel, drag your road start and end point out, and press M to raise it or N to lower it.

Only way that I got it to work! However, the bridges/tunnels are arched, and not flat, which looks untidy to me. Lol

It still requires some practice, and sometimes will give you a terrain error, but that’s TF for you. Lol
