ParticipantI thought they recommended not using another mod manager with the new version?
crossmr
ParticipantI wiped my directory for the new version and reinstalled. I tried to install some of your trains the new way, putting them in the mod folder. I notice that when I go to load a save it says “adding this mod will likely cause your game to crash” is that a standard warning or is it indicating a problem with your packages? I did have 5 trains enabled (they had been enabled since the game was created) but the game had suddenly started crashing constantly after 1879. I disabled the 5 and no crashing. Any ideas?

ParticipantYes it’s really annoying. Upgrading anything causes every passenger to instantly transport to their destination (no income) and recalculate their route. I can’t possibly imagine who thought that was a good idea.

ParticipantWhy would you pay for something that should have been done right from the start? The “goods” part of the cargo system should never have been hard coded. They should have, at the very least, had each city requiring at least 2 different types of finished products/resources to grow and left it open for modding so that people could have added requirements and industry chains.
They also should have allowed us to make combination stations, or provided them for smaller towns so that a train could take passengers and a small amount of finished products out easily to smaller towns.

Participanttrains have always been poorly balanced, and people just saying “mod it” are missing the point. The Devs should be providing a well balanced and developed game in the first place. we didn’t buy an engine, we bought a game, or that’s what they sold it as.
There is just no reason running cost should be in the neighbourhood of just buying a new train.
crossmr
ParticipantDid they remove the hard coded “goods” part yet for cities?
crossmr
ParticipantYou guys are doing great.I always meant to learn how to do this and do Korean trains and stock, but this game ended up letting me down and I couldn’t get the enthusiasm up like you guys have.
crossmr
ParticipantIt’s like they want this game to fail.
I thought that was the whole point of this DLC.
crossmr
ParticipantDid the DLC change it so that we could mod the cities to accept something else other than “goods”? I thought that was one of the things they mentioned changing for the DLC (removing some hard coded stuff)

ParticipantHey Bloodbunny if you are really interested in paying to have models made, you should try a site I used called freelancer.com I hired a guy there to do a 3D model for me, much more complex, and not for a game, but he did a good job and the price wasn’t bad. You can put up the project, with details and get bids on it. I got like dozens of bids in a day or two, so don’t jump on the first one and wait for the price to go down. You may be required to buy a copy of the game for whoever you get to work on it, and point them to the existing tools and forums so they can figure out just how the models need to be made, but they can also be made very quickly. The guy I hired whipped up a really detailed and complex model for me in a couple of days. Lower poly models like this, you could probably do a few a day.

ParticipantThe problem is it doesn’t tell you what part is old (in this case probably only 2-3 cars out of 8, and not including the engine) and just says the whole thing is 30 years old. I can’t see that being a feature at all.
crossmr
ParticipantI think I may need to mod all the cars to have a lifespan of 100 years or something.

ParticipantNo problem Omich. It was this train:
http://transport-games.ru/index.php/files/file/529-chs8/
I’d suggest you cut the volume in half or so for the horn sound, it’s extremely jarring and very loud compared to everyone else (or tell me how I can do it myself if you don’t want to alter it for everyone)
crossmr
ParticipantThese are great guys. Really enjoy them..there was one though I found the horn was way too loud. Even though I had the volume set to an okay level for everything, if I had the train in window anywhere when it started to move it was 10x louder than everything else.
The other thing is when I try to load VL10 and VL11 into the mod manager they both kick back a “syntax error”
all other trains work fine.specifically VL10u_1.1.1 and VL11_1.0
[edit]
I fixed those two zip files. There are problems with the tfgm.lua on a non-russian system the “function config” line at the top is partially mangled. When I opened it in a text editor the F was missing and was replaced with a couple of gibberish symbols. I deleted those and typed the word correctly and they worked. You may wish to update your zip files.

ParticipantIts not pointless. Its great way to deliver goods. Very efficient and this way you can have very long realistic trains. But its not possible. A passenger have willpower to get off the train or not. A cargo doesn’t. If there is demand for that type of cargo in the station, it will unload 100%. Actually even without demand it will unload anyway. If you send good to a station that collects iron, it will unload there.
That’s not true at all. Douglas. I routinely have cargo trains stop at more than one drop-off point. My biggest one was a goods train that picked up and went to three different cities. It did not unload 100% at each city.
With the randomness of placement, you sometimes don’t get a goods manufacturer near a city and sometimes even if you do, you might not get the resource anywhere nearby.
