did you connect the ttrain station at the coal mine with ROAD to the road along the coal mine? The coal have to travel TO the station!!!

All goods types and passengers wait on the specific platform assigned to  that line that they want to take. If a train uses a different track and stops at the wrong platform it would not have anything enter or leave it? I like that one line doesnt have to wait for a train on another line cause they use different platforms.

Besides the Queue system in openttd where you would have 1-3 trains waiting for full load constant isnt profitable in train fever. Better to have as few trains that they instantly fills up when the come imo.

Ive never had 2 roads who was main connection between the same 2 spots. Usually the new road i made becomes main connection the minute i delete the old road. It seems like the game does not care about anything except that there must at least be a road connection between the factories and the city they belong to and a road between cities.. Sometimes the connection point of a factory (where goods spawn) isnt where you think it might be, and make the new start the wrong place. I dont have any problems with main connections so far. Anyways gl hf =P

Well I dont know where you get that information. I had Ocz Reaper ram 4 sticks of 2gb each for a total of 8gb in year 2007. I found a old video where they review it uploaded that year even.

Well the cpu is calculating every single person and goods package ingame, where the are going and so on. The faster it can access data stored in the ram the better. My guess is that the speed of the ram is more important than the size.

But thb having 4gb ram is a bit 2006. I dont get why new cheap pc’s still come with that low amount. Its just like phones i guess, they want to make as much money selling stuff with 64gb storage before making 128gb once. I bet they could mass produce 512gb sd cards to the point where they was as cheap as 64gb once if the market demanded it.

When I bought my computer i got 16gb ram for under half the price of the graphics card, So I see no reason for why you would get any less. But Train fever fps is not a way to benchmark how good a computer is i think. Since I get better fps in games with better graphics. Its kind of like Dayz, no matter how many thousand cash you spend on hardware its still gonna lagg here and there and wont shut down without program not responding 😀

I think the only reason for stating that a HD 3850 can run the game is cause it has DirextX10.1. I dont think they have tested to run the game on one. It is ancient. There is even a AGP version. I dont think you can find a motherboard with a AGP slot for one.

This graphics card was the first videocard to ever support DX10.1. The earliest possible card supporting dx10.1 I bet that trainfever do require dx10.1 and thats the reason for stating that this is the minimum requirement.

I think that Intel graphics is gonna struggle, take a look at this page (look for game benchmarks scroll down a bit)

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Graphics-4600.86106.0.html

the Intel HD Graphic 4600 got a score of 4580 on 3dmark11 while the ATI Radeon HD 5770 got 2640. My Graphics card got a score of 15280 compared and i run train fever with some lag too.

Do you happen to have a GeForce 8800GTS? I got one on my shelf 😀 (its the minimum requirement stated on their steam store page)

    @grimdanfango

I do agree that every single map generated look very similar in train fever. The way the towns and other things are spaced out on the map is very predictable, even the terrain is somewhat predictable and repeating map after map. And I dont like it. They need to spice it up a bit. It almost feels like the usa “map” is a re-textured version of the original map. I was hoping for a new game mechanic or some new resources like water pumps and water demand from towns considering it is in the desert. Or at least some new UI or something new other than textures and vehicles.

But i don’t think any other similar game has specific persons with specific houses and workplaces and that goods have a specific factory they are going to. So its at least something new and not a blind copy of lets say transport tycoon even tho I think a lot of people would be happy to see a complete remake of openttd with this level of graphics.

I got the train line buildt under the conditions i stated and got it in the green on Jan 5, 1866. I know i did it fair and square even if these few images isnt exactly a video from start to finish to prove it, anyways i hope someone tries to beat me and succeed! gl & hf

The 2 Cities that I connected by train was the only 2 with a bus system:

Here Are all my lines, The Bus lines struggle to break even as usual while the goods lines bring in around 600k a year profit total. I had 58 Horse Wagons, 10 Stage Carts and one 4-4-0 The General w/4 Passenger Carts in the end total.

A horse wagon travels at 15km/h, and in 1 day ingame it travels aproximatly its own length along the road. This means the horse wagon is 15×24=360km long and travels 360km per day. (assuming this game ignores sleeping/resting along the way). It takes 2 years to travel back and forth between a oil well and refinery in 1850 and they are pretty close on the map. This is 131’400km in one year (one way). This means that the map size must me a lot more than this in both lenth and height.

I think you guys just need to play on normal speed and zoom in a bit, and realize the size of the maps 😀

This shows that From South in Spain too up north in Norway is closer together than 2 average towns currently are in train fever. Only 5300km.

omg this is hard, I tested playing under these conditions last night after posting this. I had about 150 horse wagons and payed back my loan by 1856. I had trouble finding 2 towns that was easy/cheap to connect by train.  the only 2 that was easy to connect was under 100 in population. I will play more and see how it goes later this evening hopefully.

How has the challenge been for you? have anyone tried yet?
