I don’t consider steam to be DRM, i never have. There’s some steam games that install DRM on your system, with limited machine activations. that’s what i consider DRM.

it is “realistic” that more and more vehicles becomes available the further into time we are, but it isn’t fun playing from 1850 and having to wait 15 or so years for a new train (Which is alot of playtime), and then after 1950 every train seems to be 7-9(?) years, which is not alot of playtime. It means that if you start a game from 1850 you do alot of waiting for new vehicles, but starting a game from for example 1950 means you have something new available quite often.

I don’t have that much against the game pace from 1850-1950, but after that i think it’s definitely too fast

I posted in this thread earlier but i’d like to post again with an update,

i’ve now reached the “later” stages in the game (1960+), and new trains arrive much, much too fast. At one point i had i think 7 trains to choose from, and comparing to the 15 years between steam trains there’s definitely an issue of pace in the later stages of the game. Untill 1950-1960 this wasn’t a problem, but imo after this point something has to be done with the pacing, making those years last longer than before 1950 might be a easy fix, but i definitely think something sould be done about it. The pace at which trains become available from 1850-1950 is pretty slow, then from 1950+ it gets way too frequent comparing to the rest of the game.

If there was only one industry chain that needed workers, like the oil rigs in TTD, i might see the ‘worker’ concept working, but there’s alot of people talking about the game pace going too fast compared to what you have to do with replacing vehicles with new ones, build lines, etc, so making all factories need workers to operate still seems tricky to pull off to me.

you sould always, always always install the graphics drivers provided by the graphics card manufacturer. If it doesn’t work, you can try and search for an older version of the driver.

I’m not sure it will be a good idea to make factories need workers before they start what they’re doing, it might become redundant and become something you need to do every time you want to make goods and something you don’t profit from, or factories need so many workers it’s difficult to keep up with the changing demand for workers.

It would be kinda neat to see passengers need to go to/from other places than towns in the world, maybe an amusement park somewhere on the map? airport later on?

I would be surprised if the developers doesn’t make options for autosaves once they are done with bugfixes/mac+linux. Things like disabling autosave all together, max number of autosaves and duration between autosaves. But right now you can’t alter it.

trains will ALWAYS try to be one signal behind another, which makes spacing a difficult task. Too many signals over the line, and the trains will be too close together. Not enough signals and they might wait too long on one another. I’d really like to see the trains space out alot automatically if you have a double-track setup with alot of signals on both sides, but i don’t think we’ll see this. It is possible to space out trains but it is difficult to do.

and vehicle maintenance appears to increase infinitely, so eventually it becomes a no-brainer to upgrade

I think the uneven vehicle balance could be fixed by making the yearly earnings/losses on a vehicle ‘tick’ over every 2 years, so instead of the game telling you how the vehicle is doing financially every year, it shows how the earnings/losses for every 2 years, or maybe even 3.

But i wouldn’t neccessarily agree that the game could be slower than it is now on normal speed, while waiting for the 100km/h steam train to be released i managed to construct 5 passenger lines, and before the next freigth steam train was released i managed to replace all of my current passenger trains with the new 100km/h model. It was actually slightly boring just waiting for new trains to come out, although i can’t say for later stages of the game, playing from 1850-2000 would take like 40 hours on normal speed which seems plenty to me.

I only have trains and i don’t mind manually sending them to depo and selling them, but it would be nice to have a feature that makes the train/vehicle go to the depo, and get upgraded,  and then return to the line. That would make things alot easier, especially for people who have micro management.
