NiqueParticipant
I stopped playing because well.. i am missing logic in the game. Randomly placed sawmills and refineries (generally speaking: typical ‘city’ industries) should have been placed in cities. And yes, the missing features of laying ‘road over rail’, x-crossings and way-points are having a huge impact on that decision.
The game has a lot of potential but for now i really feel i have to wait to long for the map to load and ‘play’ with broken things. I just don’t like it anymore. there’s just to much illogical stuff going on. They implemented a gui ‘window’ snap feature (try it, they will snap to each-other).. but forgot to implement a snap feature for train stations to fit on existing railway tracks or stations. Whats more important?
Please work on 1 or 2 things at a time. For example, implementing waypoints will bring me back for sure. Do not work on 60 features at the same time because then, by the time the patch comes out i probably forgot about the game… And i’m not alone. Update the game every week with a new little feature or little change that keep existing players attached to the game.

NiqueParticipantIf you are running Windows on a SSD you should have setup symbolic links in the first place. And right after the windows installation and it boots for the first time. We do this in Audit mode.
All my program files and documents are stored on the HDD drive instead of the SSD. While the OS is running on the SSD. I can still choose to install important heavy programs on the SSD (for faster loading) but you want your temporary files and your downloads and user files on the HDD drive anyway. 1, because you want your SSD lifetime extended (writing a lot on SSD is not a very good idea) and 2, save space.
Here is a good guide for installing Windows 7 on a SSD while other program files are stored on another drive. This is also a very good practice anyway, even if you do not have an SSD disk. Why? Well when your Windows or the hard disk it is installed on fails to work.. you can easily replace it without losing your personal files and programs. Of course you would have to re-install the programs but must programs will pickup where you were before the ‘crash’.
Because i absolutely hate Windows 8 (i’m on a PC, not a freaking tablet) i do not know how to do this in Windows 8 but i think the routine is the same.

September 23, 2014 at 19:02 in reply to: BUG LIST & WISHES: after 120+ hours of gameplay on hard #9755NiqueParticipant- Well a steel mill and a refinery are in fact industries. So why oh why are they placed in the middle of nowhere instead of a industrial area inside a town?
- Add drag road over rail for building a railway crossing. its kinda pathetic it is possible to drag rail over road but not road over rail. Its the same algorithm.. and it makes me wonder why the game had to be released in this state.

(large version)
Imagine the 2 inner tracks to be highspeed.NiqueParticipantAnother thing that’s kinda weird:
– You can drag a rail over road
– You can not drag road over rail..wtf…
NiqueParticipantYes, a lot of work needs to be done. I really wish i could change some code myself. A lot of stuff is hard coded.
NiqueParticipantWhy to you think large stations have dynamic boards on which the times and platform numbers are shown. It is totally realistic to choose ‘available’ platforms rather than having a fixed one.
NiqueParticipantI created a 4 track station for this city with 4 lines going to other cities. In those cities it depends on how many lines you want there but mostly (for future compatibility i created 2 track stations there) Only 1 city to 1 city connections. On all of those lines there are 2 trains and in the middle i have put double tracks for like 1km so the trains will stay spaced out very nicely. I’ts making millions and millions for me. I’m only in 1889 with $87,5 M on the bank.

NiqueParticipant@mikael, publish the gettext POT file, create a version control rep at a public server so we can all start translating in our own languages. You as a DEV pick (merge) the translations you want and voila.
NiqueParticipanti wonder why the developers of Train fever choosed to dump al standards.. its really stupid the way they implemented the orientation in the game and also colors for industry, commercial and residential are weird. They should be yellow, blue and green. Now it’s mixed. I don’t want to be picky but i really have the feeling this whole game was just a hobby build up on a procedural city simulator program they were proud of. Lots and lots of simple ‘basics’ are missing, lots and lots of standards are thrown out of the window. Its so weird.. really. Makes it hard to adapt. I just don’t understand why people keep doing this. Keep standards!
NiqueParticipantI do it aka Simcity 4 style: Use the rail to flatten the terrain. then remove the rail and place your station :).
But indeed, there is a need for better terrain tools.NiqueParticipantNever seen someone having a crush on a videocard. totally new to me 😛
NiqueParticipantYes, that’s exactly my ‘workaround’. Using stations for waypoints. Its totally weird there are no waypoints in this game. It seems if you have multiple bus lines in one city.. the line will randomly change to ridiculous zigzag routes. Something is totally wrong with the line path finding system.
NiqueParticipantNiqueParticipantThe slow train does not go on the ‘slow’ section because you can’t set waypoints. No need for testing. it wont work.
