The reversing problem can mostly be adressed by setting each side of the double track to one way with signals.

This will not stop the trains reversing and gumming up the the network.  My point is that the reversal should not happen!

I am also aware that trams can behave in the most peculiar way when the road network is modified.  The difference is that the the trams sort themselves out after a short time without any need for player intervention and thus do not cause any major problems.  The trains have to be corrected by the player, when they notice the problem, usually when a highly profitable line start loosing money.

I’m sorry, I don’t think that this is possible in Train-Fever at the moment.  I believe that it has been the subject of several requests for inclusion in a future update.  It is a feature that we would all appreciate.

The Deltics always ran on BOTH engines in service, they needed all their power to maintain the tight schedules on the east coast main line, these frequently required 100mph running.  They only ran on one engine when they had breakdown on one of the engines, this allowed them to continue their journey at reduced speed rather than becoming a cripple like other single engined locos.

PS: The twin engines made so much noise that many of their drivers suffered from hearing loss in later life.

They disappear when their destination is re-developed, this applies to both passengers and goods; the game treats them in the same way!

Passengers disappear when their destination is redeveloped in your towns.  Goods have destinations in commercial building, if they are redeveloped the goods disappear.

Basic commodities oil, ore, coal and timber have destinations in processing plants, as these are never redeveloped they should never disappear.  I have never noticed these disappearing!

I’m suffering the same problem.  So we need a fix ASAP!

I’m sorry but your idea of a central distribution hub just won’t work in Train-Fever as it does in the real world.  Movement of goods must not take more than 20min from supplier factory to user city overall (20min rule is absolute).  Distribution hubs will not work in the game unless the distances involved are very small.  I know, I tried them when I first started playing the game!

The 20min rule is one of the most frustrating issues in the game that urgently needs revision, it makes some sense with passengers, but it makes no sense at all with non-perishable goods.  The rule for goods needs revision!

I’ve found that small dedicated freight lines working: commodity producer > processor > city terminal, is the system that works best in the game.   These are best kept completely separate from your passenger network.  Slow freight trains do no mix with faster passenger trains, as is true in the real world.

You need to make sure all your cities have 100% of their goods requirement satisfied to allow them to grow.  Without this your game will not develop!

Before you start you will need to download ‘Train Fever Mod Manager’ (TFMM), or ‘Train Fever Game Manager’ (TFGM) from the ‘tools’ section in downloads, and install this on your PC before you do anything else.  Best to stick to one of these only!

This will enable you to easily install and manage (most of) the game mods downloaded from Train-Fever.net.  This makes the mods available for use in the game.

You then use the in-game mod manager on the ‘load/new game’ screen to select which mods from the list of installed mods, you wish to apply to each of your saved games.

PS: There are no mods currently available on Steam, as there is no Train-Fever workshop.

A good start within the game would be to allow tram tracks cross a railway that is crossing the road! Bit of an oversight that one.

Hey!  You can do this already!

You first need to bulldoze the the rail at the crossing (not the road),  then lay the tram tracks on the  road (you may want upgrade the road as well), then relay the rail line.  Job done!

The Train Fever Mod Manager (TFMM) [must be latest version 0.8.111] now instals mods correctly and is highly recommended.   NB: You will still need to update the game as described above.

Knowing CO it was probably a mistake!  But whatever it’s origin it was a great improvement to the game.  It would be very nice to see this feature made available in Train-Fever.

I suggested the mirroring idea to CO for CIM2.  They immediately rejected the idea out of hand as impractical.

Perhaps they felt there was insufficient demand for LHD, or more likely the were working on CSL and had no further interest in developing CIM2.

I still think that this is a workable idea and hope that Urban Games will give it serious consideration.

All visual content can be mirrored, except of course any text.  That may be the most difficult part as it will also affect fan produced content that is not controlled by Urban Games.  Only buildings and road vehicles would be affected as trains are not handed in the game (they can use platforms on either side), and will thus not need any modification.

The ominous silence from Urban Games is worrying.  Are you still there?

This has the same problem as American interurban in the Train-Fever game, as it does not allow inter-running between the tram network and the railway network.

This would require a radical alteration to the game structure by the Urban Games team to make the possible.  Nice idea all the same!

    @Arael

For the trams travelling between cities on normal tracks, thats a relatively new invention, it first came up in about the 1980′s in the region around Karlsruhe and Karlsruhe itself in southwest Germany, hence this is called “Karlsruher Modell” in German.

This is not true!  Have you never heard of the great American ‘Interurban’ network?  This originated in the last years of the 19th century when electric traction had become a viable proposition. There was a vast network of inter-city interurban lines in the USA that operated for the first four decades of the 20th century; before their rapid demise in the 1950’s when motor cars almost destroyed all US public transportation outside the major cities.

The US interurban network was integrated with the main line railway network, many interurban line operated freight trains conveying main line railroad freight cars.  Some even survived carrying freight after ceasing passenger operation.

This would make a great addition to the USA DLC.  (Donoteat’s interurban pack goes some way to creating this, but it cannot allow full integration with the railway network due to it being strictly part of the separate tram nework.)

I would like to see some earlier British trains; there is very little available before 1900.  Very few modders seem interested in early part of the game.  I don’t understand why people would wish to start a game which involves building railways in an era when most railways had already been well established.  Very few new railways were built in Europe after 1900!

There is a vast choice of trains to choose from as there was many separate railway companies in the UK before 1923; all of which had their own bespoke designed locomotives and carriages.   Unfortunately for GWR fans there use of the 7ft broad gauge makes most of their early trains unsuitable.

PS: We need carriages as well as locomotives.
