That video is from Belgium based on the locomotive last seen on the video, but those Plasser & Theurer machines are being used at least all over the Europe.

I’d love to see them as well in the game, but i’d prefer them fixed, like stations. That way one could create easily all the complex networks and ensure there is no 1 sleeper long bits between the points.  It would also help on track building when you could put your stations and points in place first, and then just drag the track between them to connect the full network.

Oh absolutely, but the way i described is how it works now. Ideally you should be able to click from line window or something like that to electrify whole line at ones without trains blocking your work.

Way points and planning. That’s the key. Never had any issues with the paths and trains getting stuck. Except when i’ve made a mistake or for some reason one train decides to turn around with no obvious reason.

Waypoints will force the path to where ever you want, so use them. And if you want trains out from the depot to both directions, it’s easiest to do 2 depots. Or, simply place the depot at the end of the platform on the last stop on the line.

Since the auto update feature, i’ve never returned any trains to depot anymore.

One way signals on right places and waypoints work wonders. And build bigger stations and avoid using the same platform for more than 2 lines.

Isidro: Tunnels come on the next content update. Yesterdays patch already added changing 2 way streets to one way streets, and ability to change the direction of one way street with right mouse click.

Mods are easily available from steam workshop, which should have been the case and hopefully one day will be for TF as well. But, if some mods are correcting things or adding features, it doesn’t mean it was wrong in the first place. And while mods in TF is basicly new vehicles and minor graphical issues, on CS they can be new functions like one mod adds possibility to ovesample resolution and improve anti aliasing, or the other adds possibility to select colour for each mass transit line. A function, what has been on the wishlist of many users for TF for a long time. It’s just that the level where CS is, is not perfect but it’s at least a believable release product. And not a beta like TF is now after many patches with the load of bugs still in it. Again, nothing wrong with that, but it should have been early access rather than full price product. And even all that is borderlining the main point, how devs keep contact with their customers. It doesn’t take more than couple of hours a week to do that, and it is something what you kind of have to do when you decide to go for doing things for business.

Azrael: Like Larry.kubiak said, you are completely missing the point and hence it is pointless to continue any sort of discussion with you. Adn you can’t say EA is crap on publicity since you haven’t done that kind of PR work by yourself. That is of course, according to your logic, not mine.

It’s already there, just above this one as a sticky. Been for several months, and not a single comment from devs in it.

True. There is a small trick though what you can use to make it bit more easier.

First upgrade your stations. Then work on the line. When line is upgraded it should show red when hovering over it with the upgrade tool. This red should expand to the station as well, if the connection is all the way through. If station doesn’t turn red, there is a piece of catenary missing between the line and the station itself. This helps you to pinpoint the problem location.

Isindro: Again, it’s not directly about the games themselves, how ever as an example for you, number 6 in your list. You are not supposed to click the vehicle on the line to delete it, but select the mass transit overlay and then click the line itself. It shows you the info about how many people use the line with delete button.

Everything else you listed is pretty much modded already, disappearing cars are easy thing to keep game approachable for new gamers but a mod already turns that feature off.

Azrael: Well, how long it took for you to get even a reply for your issue? I see quite a few bumps by you in that thread. Also above this we have a thread called suggestions/fixes. How many comments from the devs in that?

Please don’t play that silly argument of have you done it by yourself… It just makes you look very childish.

You also missed the point on EA completely. YOU said CO and Paradox can do good publicity because they have money where as UG has not. Simonmd said that’s not the reason, look EA. Lot of money, massive budgets and extremely shitty PR. So if you want to continue any argumentation, please go back and re read the messages either him or me wrote and try to understand what they say in the first place. Then we continue.

Vinkandoi: it’s called open discussion. It doesn’t mean that we don’t support and like the game even if we are critizing it and the developers. Like said, i got 360 hours in it and all but 2 achievemnts done. Ironically one of them, museum line, is buggy and didn’t work out like it was described. Industrialist is just too boring to even try due to freight side of things being after thought in this game.

If you go and look what “about” says here on the tab above, it makes it bit gringeworthy reading… Expertise in game design, game which has all these simple issues like non scrolling scroll bars, lack of information like gradients and speed limits… Very basic stuff. Even the crowd movement simulation is poor as there is none unless player makes connections between cities. And even then, there will never be traffic between the cities where player doesn’t offer services.

But the point isn’t comparing 2 different products. It is about how publicity is done and that is something where UG seriously need to pick up.

I think everyone who reads these forums can see what the level of communcation is and who is the fanboy and who is not.

But for your information, i got 360 hours in TF from the day 1. How about you?

Edit> Yeah, compare TF from day one and what it is now and list exactly how many things from community has been added. Like automatic replace. And what else?

TF on the day one was something what should not have been released, it’s even now a working alpha, ready to go to beta stage in real terms. Nothing can change that fact when you consider it as a product without any emotions attached to it. That’s why it is much nicer to be a non fan to any product, it gives you more perspective to things.

And the traffic in CS seems to use all lanes in my cities so don’t know what you are on about. In some specifc slip roads it queues up to one lane only but soon after that splits to all available lanes. But that’s hardly an issue compared to preset routes on 4 lane road where bus can’t over take slower lorry in TF because it follows the set line. And if you remember, traffic was horribly bad on TF too when it launched and has beeen improved on patches.

LOL to what he ^^ said.

Traffic AI might be poor in CS but at least the cars use all lanes and overtake the slower ones unlike in TF. So nothing to learn from UG there.

Easiness… Well, both game are incredibly easy on easy difficulty which is good. Not everyone wants all the time big challenge. But try hard mode on CS, not as easy as TF on hard… So they both offer variety of challenge for people who want that.

Mass transit management… Well, CS is not about traffic management. CIM and CIM2 are, and they do it better than TF.

Again what UG could learn from Colossal Order is the constant communication with the customers. At the moment Mikael takes some effort to help on support area but they don’t give a flying f… about other stuff, like wishlists, updates on patch progress etc.

You Azreal need to also check how Publisher / developer relationship works…

Agreed, UG is a small team, which is exactly why they should be more on the ball. Difficult, yes with limited time, but mandatory to make the impression and to establish good brand and business. That’s what Colossal order knew from day one when they were known only for CIM.

It’s not hate. It’s is strongly expressed caring which comes from frustration. Simonmd also said the same thing long time ago. This game has so huge potential that it just frustrates the hell out of me to see all this stupid things in it which aren’t anything else than half arsed design things by people who are not experienced enough and didn’t ask help from the people who know how to do these things.

    – Scroll bars don’t scroll, and are barely visible to indicate there is something further down. So many people didn’t realize that you actually have 6 different roads in this game before reading about it on the forums.

    – Line update button does exactly the same thing as clicking the line name does. Was it really so difficult to program it to open the replace vehice tab directly?

    – Pop up video windows which tell you about old vehicles can’t be disabled and they grind the game to halt when dozens of them ar about to pop up. Why now have a status bar at the bottom which tells you all about these things.

    – New vehicle annoucnements aren’t standard size windows, and quickly closing them is not possible as the X is all over the place and not on same location all the time. Same happen on a vehicle list at the depot when you sell several vehicles. Sell X jumps every time one line disappears.

    – Opening windows, lines, vehicle, depot, buy vehicle, etc, throws windows all over the screen and not next to the mouse cursor. And even if you scroll the screen to the actual location of that vehicle or line, this pop up doesn’t move.

    – If the line pop up is too close to the edge of the screen and you press replace vehice tab, it expands the pop up window out from the screen.

And so, so many other similiar issues in everything in this game. Like you see it’s not much, and it could have all been sorted with just a little bit of thought and knowledge about UI but even after several updates, nothing has been done to address this kind of issues.

And just one thing about patches. It’s not great to have patches every 2 weeks or month. They should not be needed in the first place. In any game, it’s the lazy ass developers and rushing publishers who release unfinished items as with Internet it’s so easy to patch later on. Before online time, games were well finished and occasionally there was a bug or two but nothing was clearly unfinished. In this game, this is very much in alpha stage where the consept is laid out, and NOW would start the polishing work to get a proper beta out to do actual testing and then off to release. Now we all are doing the testing after paying for the product and developers don’t even bother replying to bug reports and complaints about bad UI. Those are the things why beta is done in the first place. Just makes you wonder what actually happened in the beta testing of this game last summer.

But for the record, not even Cities:Skyliens get a clean start. There is quite a few small issues which need sorting out BUT unlike this game, devs actually are on it and there is nothing as game breaking and bad in it as there is in TF.

Despite of all this, i’ve had my moneys worth of time on this game so far but i can’t see myself playing it anymore. USA DLC was ok for couple of games but it is so unbalanced that it’s more annoying than fun to play it. IF devs would actually respond here and have a discussion with people, i would spend happily more money with them, either on paid DLC for this game or TF2. If they keep it on this level like they do now, they can Foxtrot Oscar.

Bollocks. Skylines has nothing to do with CIM2, completely different game and it’s not a “polished version”.

What was so bad on Cim2? I’ve got it from the day one and it’s always been better than TF as a product. It wasn’t perfect, but far from this badly planned and executed alpha game.
