No, but that’s what happens.  Can you regain control?  I lose control of everything at that point and can’t play any longer.

    Hi Tom:

This problem happens at anytime.  I used to think that it happens after I played for a while and my computer is really taxed, but yesterday I was playing a fresh new small map (which I usually never do) and it happened.  I can’t stop the scrolling and must exit the game.  I play full screen and I’m on Windows 10.  This has never happened with any other game.

The cursor can be anywhere on the screen and I still have control of the cursor/mouse even though I can’t control the screen.  If there is an open vehicle window and I click on the “Locate” (upper left) button, the screen stops and it zooms in on that vehicle.  When I then do anything else, the uncontrollable scrolling starts again.  I have to exit the game since there is no way to continue play.  It doesn’t happen every time but it does happen too often

I just recently discovered “Advanced Train Fever Total” and so far I have found it to be very good.  It has rekindled my interest in Train Fever which has become rather boring and repetitive.  Download the manual and print out the commodity/product chart to help figure out what everything is.

I have not tried “Advanced Industry Mod”.

I did download “Cargo Mod” a long time ago but found it to be too cumbersome and cluttered.  I deleted it and have not used it again.  It was the first attempt to improve the cargo situation and deserves credit for the attempt.

I suggest you try “Advanced TF Total”.  I think you will find it most enjoyable.

RE: “I’m looking for something like Sid Meier’s Railroads!”

Yes, this game play comes pretty close to what I was looking for but it’s way too cartoony, the world is tiny and the game crashes all the time.  The industrial loading and unloading is fanciful but actually more visually interesting than in Train Fever.  Even some of my simple mobile train games have pretty good industrial animation.

Here’s hoping “Transport Fever” raises the bar on visual animation.  I just love to see the realistic action when things move and animate.

RE:  “Also the station building should be revised. Building platforms should be done by draging platforms next to rails and afterwords ‘upgrading’ the platforms by deciding how to put the platform roofing. That way you can do simple changes to the station without having to demolish the whole station.”

Yes,  it also would be great to be able to designate different platforms for passenger and freight.  It would be cool to have say a three track station that has two tracks/platforms (or one central platform) for passenger trains and one track/platform for freight.  Two different entry points, one on each side, could be used for trucks on the freight platform and buses/trams on the passenger platforms.

Add the ability to update and modernize the stations through time and add new facilities – even automatically like the vehicle replacement function.

I agree with you a lot.  Don’t hold your breath waiting for Chris Sawyer to develop a new Locomotion however.  I saw an interview where he said he had no interest in doing so.  He did however make a new version of “Transport Tycoon” for mobile devices.

I have found a few railroad transportation games in Google Play.  Not all that great but I will say these simple games have better animation than Train Fever when it comes to cargo loading and unloading.  I hate the static look of the industries in Train Fever,  Makes the game feel so unfinished.

I just wanted to add that I have recently bought Tranz – A New Era (being on a constantly frustrating search for THE NEW Transport Tycoon, which it is not – WHY CAN’T ANYONE DO THIS!!!).  Anyway. I am greatly impressed with the detail.  The trains themselves look great.  They use actual real names and logos with many of the old classics which is very cool like the “New Haven”.  Switch points actually move.  The railroad signals work and look very realistic.  The road crossings are exactly detailed and impressive – huge American style overhead gantrys with flashers.

It can snow or rain or do e*verything in between.  It’s visually stunning in many ways.  Taking that level of visual graphics and adding Transport Tycoon/Locomotion game play seems like a doable project.  There is obviously interest in a modern TTD, but no one seems to be able to do it even though the game is like 20 years old!

I am sure the developers know every competitive game out there, so they must be aware of TANE.  Bring your game up to that level of realism with better TTD game play, add some needed improvements (like building roads over rails, new track construction possibilities, improved industrial production with new and changing industries), add some new features (like container seaports to import/export goods), and you will have a successful new game.

Somebody needs to do this – it might as well be you guys!

But using any mode disables the achievements, right?  If there were a few more built-in items, then that would not be a problem.

For instance, the USA DLC should have built-in American style signals, roads and road crossings.  For me to play with realistic American roads, wayside signals, crossing signals, etc., I need to install modes.  Shouldn’t this all be part of the USA DLC?  Why is there a European road crossing sign in the USA DLC?  Why aren’t there American style crossing gates and overhead flashers?  That would make sense.

I also see you added the maximum years to a vehicle’s age.  Excellent idea!

I also would like to see a description name following the cargo item number.  For instance:

    Coal: 10 Tons

    Wood: 15 Logs

    Ore: 25 Tons

    Goods: 30 Crates

    Oil: 100 Barrels

It’s a minor addition but adds to the game’s “completeness” which is frequently criticized.

I think the stagnant look of the industries is one of the weaknesses that makes the game feel “unfinished”.  The industries need animation and the ability to expand and grow industries would be so much more interesting.  Sim City has those great plopable drill-heads, coal towers, etc.  Even Sid Meier’s Railroads has some visually interesting animations when it comes to cargo loading.  Industry/Transport Giant have those great station upgrade features that would also really be nice to have.

I just posted this on the home page:

Industry Giant and Transport Giant have a lot of the gameplay that I like, but the graphics are blah and track building and signals are pathetic. Station upgrades are cool too.

TrainFever has the graphics. The track building is much better but it still could be greatly improved (level crossings, roads placed other rails, less “collisions”, etc.).

But the most frustrating thing for me in TrainFever is the lack of animation and production of the industries. I want to see my Bigboy pull 100 cars through a working coal tipple which visually loads the cars. Hell, 20 year old games have working animated industries.

Too often I build a route (e.g., coal and iron ore to a steel mill and a separate goods train to a city) and NOTHING HAPPENS! Nothing is produced and the trains all run empty. I want to see some fruit from my labor. I want to see the industries grow and prosper and fill my trains with products. I want to see new industries appear and need service.

I know . . . . YOU NEED DEMAND! I hear that over and over. You know what? Demand just doesn’t happen in most cases and it doesn’t build enough to do much of anything. This is where TrainFever falls flat. It gets too repetitive and boring.

Incorporate the good parts of TTD, Locomotion, Transport Giant. Give me something to transport. Give me something new like a seaport to bring doublestack trains to and freighter ships to export my goods like in A-Train. Give me an inland distribution center to unload my doublestack trains onto trucks for delivery to nearby cities. It’s been said over and over . . . we need a modern version of Transport Tycoon . . . PLEASE!

I really like the “Old Western” style stations available via the mods, but as you play into the later years they are out of place and need upgrading to more modern structures.  Updating everyone of them is a real chore.

It would be cool if there was a station update available (like the vehicle replacement function) where you could schedule automatic upgrades to these buildings.

Maybe a similar function for the signals and railroad crossings too?
