stubblychinParticipant
There needs to be an option like press ctrl to turn off snapping.
stubblychinParticipantI’ve found the quickest and least painful way to replace a line’s vehicles as follows:
1. Bring up line window and identify the line you wish to replace.
2. Pause the game
3. Bring up the depot window and buy the replacement vehicles you need.
4. In the line window click “Send all to depot and sell button”
5. Back on the depot window, click set line all, and set to the line you just emptied.
6. Unpause game.
It takes a little while for everything to smooth out again, but anything more complicated than this will drive you mad. They do need a button on each vehicle for “send to depot and sell”. Anything too automatic might be cheating.
stubblychinParticipant1) This has already been created with Gwinda’s cargo mod, which is a 12 step chain, although it does end in goods. I suppose it would be nice to have towns demand food, or cars, but that would quite an extensive modification to work out the demands. How the city demands goods pretty complcated already.
2) I agree there could be a few more trains throughout history, but hopefully mods will sort that out. I imagine there will be DLC incoming which could be disapointting. I would like to see a few more trains to the vanilla game.
3) I don’t want shipping, or planes. This is train fever!
4) Definitely. Just a dropdown would do, can’t think that would be too tricky to implement.
A lot of your points aren’t really points for mods, more for the devs to implement to the game currently.
stubblychinParticipantI’ve followed some people. When they disappear from the the train they sometimes spawn back home, which I presume is the case for people who’ve exceeded the 20 minute rule. Other times the camera loses them completely, so they are either deleted or just lost by the camera, which I think happens when their home is destroyed.
stubblychinParticipantAre the two trains running to the same line? A line will always go to the same platform. You’d need to create a separate line to force the other train onto the 2nd platform I think.
The trains do not dynamically choose platforms yet, although that is probably due to the fact that the resource they are picking up goes to one particular platform so they wouldn’t be able to pick up anything elsewhere even if they did change line.
stubblychinParticipantThey also disappear if their house gets bulldozed to make way for new buildings in their home town.
stubblychinParticipantThat’s not a bad point about passengers loading one at a time. Maybe passengers should load 4 at a time if there is four carriages, 8 at a time if 8 etc? That would introduce an interesting dynamic.
stubblychinParticipantYeah you sold it to me. That would be damn sexy!
stubblychinParticipantIsland, Peninsula or other types of maps would be good too, although I suppose this isn’t boat fever and water is just wasted land really.
stubblychinParticipantIt depends how tolerant you are of some pretty small bugs. Some people are making out like this game’s bugs are the end of the world, but they really aren’t. I’m getting quite addicted after 18 hours. Sure there are things that need changing and balancing, but hopefully they will come along soon.
If you do decide to bite the bullet, double check your system specs against the required or post them on the forum if you are concerned, as there are some people who I think presumed they could run this on any old laptop. Also read as many of the player guides you can find, as they really help.
stubblychinParticipantYou need create demand before you can transport goods. You start with the town to factory connection. In fact it should be towns to factory connection. Distribute the cargo to two towns so the demand for goods is doubled. The demand for goods will in turn increase the demand on the coal and the ore. You basically have to build the whole chain to get things going. Also you should check the cargo isn’t making it’s own way there by turning on the cargo layer.
stubblychinParticipantSo can it be said, as long as a line’s frequency less that 20 minutes, people will use the line?
stubblychinParticipantI don’t think it is possible to do that as yet. Stations will flatten themselves to wherever their centre posted point is. Your right though, it would be good to have access to the leveling buttons when building a station. What about if you build a low road and connect it to that?
stubblychinParticipantThey go back home again. I’m not sure if their schedule changes or is always the same. I followed one guy who went HOME -> WORK -> LEISURE -> HOME before I got bored of watching. Although in some cases they do just vanish from existence, especially if their train is too slow.
stubblychinParticipanthave you set up transport to take goods away from the factory? You need to create demand for product at the factory or it won’t produce.
