I was asked how to create a cargo line using Trucks, so here’s a new video explaining how to create a cargo line using Trucks AND Trains combined. Let me know if this was helpful!
UltraMarkParticipantThanks! I’ve added Subtitles/CC (English) to explain in more detail what I’m doing in the video.
UltraMarkParticipantI mostly build a passenger station at the “green side” (Residential) of a town and a freight station at the “blue side” (Industrial) of a town, so I don’t mind them being separate.
Come to think of it, in reality I’ve rarely seen a cargo train crossing a passenger station.
UltraMarkParticipantI stopped reading after the “250MB Savegames” complaint. Really? You can have a 1Tb disk (which is 4000 save games) for 50 euros and THAT’s your number one complaint? It’s an inconvenience at most.
Look, I’m sorry this isn’t the swipe 3 times, buy 20 gold pieces for $1.69 and win the game in 20 seconds deal. Sure, it’s a little rough around the edges, but the 3D looks great and runs very smooth (at least on my machine). I also think it’s a bit unfair to compare it to a 2D isometric game that has been in development for over 20 years (well, a little bit less than that because don’t get me started about TT before it became Deluxe).
I do agree that it’s a project run by (only 3!) engineers and not by “unproductive”/non technical staff. If you want to see what happens in the latter case, go play SimCity.
UltraMarkParticipant..and it’s playable! (if you’re getting a message that the game is still encrypted after preloading, restart the Steam client).

UltraMarkParticipantFYI: pre-load is available, it’s about 1.2 Gb in size.
UltraMarkParticipant@Mansen: that’s entirely possible 🙂 Should’ve mentioned that with “connection” I meant “modem connection”. The couple of times I played it on LAN were easier to do (although I think that was still IPX/SPX?).
UltraMarkParticipantThe original Transport Tycoon had 2 player support and it was very hard to setup (and keep up) the connection for the hours and hours a single multiplayer game would last. I think I’ve only used it once or twice on a LAN party.
So I’m not sure that multiplayer is must in this game. I’m perfectly happy with playing this game on my own, tinkering with all the transport lines, railroad signs, buildings etc etc. Adding multiplayer adds competitiveness and therefore pressure, which is not always needed in this type of game (same goes for Banished, afaiac).

Can beta testers pre-order as well?
As a mark of recognition, we have decided to give the final game to all beta testers for free. They did a great job so far and they actually enable us to do the right things in the final month of development.- This reply was modified 9 years, 7 months ago by UltraMark. Reason: make link clickable
