Yes make the signals one way. Also stations have their own signals at each end of the platform although we can’t see them, unfortunately this does cause some troubles with train routing as well.

The most foolproof way to do it is either double track everything including the stations and never have the lines cross, or one-way signal a line and have the end loop out from the station and back to rejoin the return line.

Delete the road between the two cities and they’ll be forced to use your trains! muahahaha!

When upgrading roads between cities always, always, make a bus lane if you have a route there – it makes a colossal difference in the travel times. As an added bonus any trucks that use the road will also use the bus lane.

As to the OPs question, yes I can’t make town bus or tram routes profitable either, town to town is fine but if they don’t wanna use my busses or trams – sod em, they can walk.

Would be nice to see the signals animated, maybe in a future patch?

Did you make a change on your line?

I had a similar problem before, made an extension to my train line to incorporate a couple of extra cities and instead of going through the hassle of trying to fit them in in the right order I deleted ALL stops and started again – I can only assume that therefore my line ceased to exist (as far as the ‘sims’ were concerned) and they all decided to walk to their destinations instead.

This sent me broke for a time, from being a couple of million up to half a million in the red, my trains were costing me a fortune in maintenance but not carrying any passengers for a couple of years – eventually everything got back to normal thankfully.
