I’m also still struggling with the road system (enlarging, bus lanes, …) and the traffic bug beyond the 1950’ies. I still did not found an answer for these problems, except some cheesy exploits. Developers have still work to do on this subject to balance the game, and get the traffic simulator working correctly..
YeolParticipantI tried it twice, and never got much traffic going between both stations. In my current game I installed the urban stations early, hoping that later, with a grown city around these stations, it will attract some public.
YeolParticipantYou can force a distance between the two trains (in case of 1 double line with 2 cities). Place one “one way” signal just before entering each station, without intermediate signals. At least, that’s what it logically should do. I dit not try it.
With 3 cities you use 4 trains with the same principle. The trans stay separated. Best is when the distance between AB and BC are about the same, of course.
YeolParticipantI also suggested a week ago that the size of cities during the genesis of the game should vary more. Now they all seem about the same size. I would like to see numerous very small hamlets of just a couple of houses, a couple of medium sized villages, and maybe one or 2 bigger towns at start.
But for now you could choose which 2 towns on the map would be the large cities for the future intercity line. Service them better, connect them more, and they will grow faster. They will become the 2 biggest cities of the map, with one or 2 others that grew big on their own. So, I suggest a little “guided” roleplay here… π
YeolParticipantBuilding road over rail is not possible because it has not been programmed into the game. It has been announced as being a priority on the developer’s todo list. π
YeolParticipant“contrary to popular belief there exist no suspension rail bridges, a myth that hollywood spreads.”
For every rule, there is an exception: the Niagara Falls suspension bridgeΒ π
But your are right, no suspension bridges for trains!
YeolParticipantAn option is to define 2 lines: the fast line and the slow line. The slow line you configure it will stop at every station, and for the fast line you construct bypass tracks at those stations. A typical setup for a station like this is a straight double line with at both sides a single track station placed along side to it. The straight track is the shortest, and so the pathfinder will select thos tracks for the fast line. The slow line is forced to go by the platforms.
It’s just an idea, a compromis as long we do not have waypoints.
YeolParticipantThe bridges in the pre-alpha version seemed to have had larger spacing between the pillars. Or are they the same?
September 29, 2014 at 09:10 in reply to: I see no difference in city growth with or without inside transport #10265YeolParticipantI also don’t grasp entirely the conditions for when a town will grow. I concentrated all my effort on one town, and gave it the max (connections to many other town, multiple inner lines, full cargo,…). A neighbouring town grew bigger and faster then mine!
YeolParticipantI’m sorry, and maybe it’s me (am not native English speaking) but I did not understand very well your description of the problem. Can you illustrate your question? Maybe then, you’ll get an answer from someone. π
YeolParticipantI am patient to see the announced modifications, fixed and additions, as a summed up at the start of this tread, arrive. I’m eager to use the announced waypoints and the longer industry chains. They should both add significantly to the dept of game play.
After the arrival of these additions, I will be wishing for more, but until then, I’m looking forward to what we will receive. Step by step… day by day. π
YeolParticipantFor the moment it is not possible to tell a vehicle to load nothing. I hope developers read this forum, and note down your remark, as this option seem quite easy to implement, and might be practical in some cases.
YeolParticipantGreat looking city and an impressive rail infrastructure. Great job, nice pictures.
TIP: when you upload the images, specify a fixed width (I believe 1024 is the max). Your images may be bigger, but this forum limits the width (to again I believe 1024), and not the height, so they get stretched like mad. π
YeolParticipantGreat achievement and a very neat rail construction! It looks awsome!
