Train Fever goes beta

After long and intensive development, we are very happy to announce that we are ready to run a closed beta test between July 14 and July 24.

In order to minimize administration efforts, the number of participants is limited. People interested in testing can apply for the beta test between today and July 6. In order to do so, please send an email to beta@train-fever.com and include your full name and address.

After July 6, we will randomly select a limited number of participants. Therefore we unfortunately need to reject all applications after July 6.

Since Gambitious crowdfunding supporters will be preferred (applications will be handled in a separate pool), please also mention in the email if you have participated in our crowdfunding campaign.

Selected testers then need to sign a Non-Disclosure-Agreement (NDA). As soon as this is done, participants get a Steam key which is valid only for the mentioned time period and only for the beta version.

The testing version will be Windows only. Mac OS X and Linux versions will be tested at a later point in time. Please note that the user interface, graphics and performance will not be final. Therefore, a certain amount of goodwill might be required to take part. If you expect the smoothness of a final game we strongly advise to not apply.

Minimal system requirements are:

  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 or ATI Radeon HD 5670 with at least 512 MB VRAM
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM
  • System: Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8
  • Mouse: Mouse with wheel

We would like to say thanks in advance for each application. This testing process is crucial for the final game and it’s great to see that the community is offering support here!

  1. OK. Unfortunately, I’m in this period on vacation. So I fell out as a beta tester. aahhhh ….!!!

    • that’s funny cause why go for vacation to some kickass warm country, just sit home and play train fever lol

  2. Dear Train Fever team,

I would like to participate in the closed beta. I have participated in the crowdfunding campaign (Martin van Elp from Rotterdam).

    Keep up the good work!

    Regards,
    Martin van Elp

  3. Hello. I actually discovered Train Fever a few weeks ago and i am really happy do have done so. I’ve pleayed TTD since its release back in the early 90s and its a bigtime favouritte for me. Now im ready to move on to Train Fever. I hope i can be a part of the BETA. I have been in a couple of closed BETA’s before.

  4. Wow such a shame i’m on vacation in that exact time period. I’ll just have to await the full release 🙂

  5. I sent the e-mail, hopefully I can take part and help out, too bad my summer camp overlaps with the beta. 🙁

However, I must ask, how strict is the NDA? I was hoping I could make videos for YouTube, but it looks like that won’t happen.

    • I think they won’t allow that.
A beta may contain bugs, it’d be bad advertising if one of those videos would contain a bug. I think they want to make videos for advertising purposes themselves, with the best specs so the game looks perfect.
I can totally understand that though!

So I hope they’ll make a few gameplay videos themselves, so we can all see what it’s like!

      • I guess that makes sense. I just haven’t worried about any NDA before, ever. I wasn’t expecting Train Fever Beta to be NDA’d.

  6. Dear Traun Fever team,

I read a post about beta tests and i’m really excited. I’ve waited for this game since April 2013. I love this type od games ( I’ve played Cities in Motion 1&2 for about 1000h) and it is the holidays time so i have a time for play games. I’m Patryk Morawski from Poznań, Poland.

    • It’s so they can hunt you down when you ignore the NDA! 😛

Nah, IDK why… I guess it’s for administrative purposes or something of that nature…

  7. Full name and address would be for the NDA I assume.
Put my application in :), was not part of crowdfunding as I only discovered the game after funding ceased 🙁

  8. Хотелось бы посмотреть на интригу экономико транспортной стратегии с превеликим удовольствием.

  9. Thanks for the game. We want to try the beta. 🙂 and greetings from Turkey…

  10. I hope I’m in the beta…

But even if I’m not I’m still making my unofficial mod for American Vehicles and Buildings which should be ready a few weeks after TF’s launch if all goes well!
    😉

  11. I would like to participate in the testing process. Could you please state how many hours this will take approximately per day?

  12. I would like to participate for beta testing. I will send an email with full name and adress.

  13. I have played RRT1,2,&3 for many years and am looking forward to beta testing. Non-Disclosure-Agreement (NDA) is not a problem for me.. I already have an account with Steam.

  14. Hi All!

That news made my day 🙂 I’m very happy, I hope I can participate for beta testing.
In Hungary we really like this kind of games 🙂 TTD is one of my favourite any time and anywhere.

  15. Wow, this is wonderful news! I am really looking forward to this game, keep up the good work!

  16. Applied as well; this game is looking great and I really would love to participate in the beta test 🙂

  17. It always amazes me how many people don’t read the full text.
You need to sent an e-mail for the beta test !

Dat geld ook voor Hollanders 😉

I do hope i’ll be one of the testers…

  18. Wow what a shame, I would love to have participated in the beta but I’ll be traveling for work during those dates so I won’t have access to a PC capable of playing games.

  19. i am still playing LOCOMOTION, i must have an addiction to it.
can not wait to play, train fever.

    • Steven:
I always have my Locomotion disc in my computer since I play it constantly. It’s my favorite game and maybe replaced by Train Fever if all goes well here.

  20. Again great to see progress! I can offer participating at a later time for the Linux version! :O)

Will the Linux-beta run through Steam, too?

  21. Actually it’s great to hear the game will be available for Linux! I seem to have missed that part.
I don’t have the patience for beta tests I suppose, so please beta testers play less and test more and be professional in your reports so I can enjoy a great game 😛

  22. I have one question:
The adress must be country or street?
And why Train fever need the adress?

  23. Can you apply more then once? I was hoping badly for the may release which never happen :c

    Was very sad about that.

  24. auf welchem weg werden wird man (falls man einer der glücklichen ist) den Non-Disclosure-Agreement erhalten?

  25. A friend of mine showed me this game a while ago, and I am impressed by all the work that has been done so far, I was a big fan of Transport Tycoon and Sid Meiers Railroads. I’d love to give it a shot

  26. Does anyone know when we will find out if we are successful?
The reason I ask is that my current computer does not meet the system specs thus I will need to order a new computer to play the beta which may take a few days to be delivered.
I am still playing Chris Sawyer’s Locomotion and have been since it came out, that game is now 10 years old and I have spent hundreds or even thousands of hours playing it and it’s about time something came along to replace it which can take advantage of modern day computer hardware.
