in my world most of the factories have production = 0. E.g. the coal mine does not produce something. So I tried to build a line from coal mine to steel factory so that the product “coal” can be sold. But still no production of coal. Same for wood, oil and others. Only 8 factories produce something (also without my lines).

Why most factories do not produce something?

Then make train from coal to steelmill. That is suppose to work.
