Hi!
I’m very new at the topic I’m presenting now, as I have been very used to using just smoothing groups and normal maps. Then I came over this video tutorial for 3Ds Max.
So I’m just wondering if the technology is supported. It’s something I’ve thought about several times while modeling, and wondered “why isn’t that possible?” Well, it is. And, if it is like what was said in the video, that a 6 polygon cube with a smoothing group on each surface in reality has 24 vertices, and not 8, it potentially saves computing power if used correctly! – As well as letting us differently solve situations where we would have made normal maps, which in some cases can be a nightmare to bake.
Cheers!
