would someone be able to help me out…I have purchased the game through steam and stupidly altered the screen res to something that is beyond my current display size. Is there anyway to start the game in a windowed mode or to easily reset the resolution size.

I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled through steam; but that didnt do anything.

Start the game and put the game into ‘windowed mode’ using ‘ALT’+’Enter'(or ‘return’, whatever it’s called). In this windowed state, you can change the resolution back to a correct setting.
