Blokker_1999Participant
If you read trough http://www.train-fever.com/forums/topic/req-multithreading-performance-issu-large-map/ you will find a detailed analysis of the problem.
Blokker_1999ParticipantI guess it’s simply because it basicly is a never ending game. Yes, after eatly 21st century you don’t get any new equipment. But the game could in theory grow untill the entire map is one big city.
Even if you just play the game entirly at 4x the normal speed, reaching the year 2050 would still take a lot of hours of gameplay. People have made youtube movies about gameplay and tips on how to get a good start or do certain stuff.
Blokker_1999ParticipantYou can actually get some pretty decent angels in TF, the most import thing is that your section of road has to be long enough on both sides. Often the roads layed down by the game itself exists of verry shory sections and the game does not allow you to cross the road close to a section border.
The second link will probably never happen. It’s a verry complex crossing irl and i really doubt they run much trains on that particular line given it’s location (usually seen on industrial lines). There are some constraints that you have to acknowledge in a game as TF when designing everything.
The third is possible, as long as you don’t attempt to cross to close to the section borders (a crossing will always be a section of road in it’s own)
Probably could have kept that one closer to the other railroad.
What bothers me more about crossing is that you can only make them with creating a track over a road and not the other way around. You always have to build tunnels or bridges or else demolish your tracks, place your road and replace your tracks (and hope that that didn’t screw up your lines or did not reverse any train).

Blokker_1999ParticipantBlokker_1999ParticipantThe main connection is indeed turning out to be a main disaster. It will most likely be adressed in the next update (probably next month). If you can’t wait, someone over at train-fever.net made a way to “patch” the game and disable the feature all together ( http://www.train-fever.net/index.php/Thread/2230-TFPatchPlus/ ) . See also http://www.train-fever.com/forums/topic/everything-is-a-main-connection/
Railroad crossings are a pain in the ass in real life, and now also ingame. It’s sad in a way you have to build the road before the rail goes in. I started avoiding crossings and where possible bring the road underground to avoid traffic getting stuck a lot on those crossings.
Blokker_1999ParticipantNo need to shout …
The game has performance issues once you reach a certain level of complexity. Everything is explained in detail in this thread: http://www.train-fever.com/forums/topic/req-multithreading-performance-issu-large-map/ . Developers are aware of this major problem and are working on ways to improve performance of the game. The only thing you can really do at the moment is not use the time multipliers since they worsen the problem.
Blokker_1999ParticipantIt’s not a feature, it’s a simplification. And indeed, it would be unfait to declare the train’s age as the age of the locomotive in the frint of it. Once i built a train, it keeps running for me without ever really making big adjustments to them, but that’s in part because almost all my trains are passenger trains.
Blokker_1999Participantnope, all your save games are there. If you can’t find them, try searching your hard drive for the name of one of your ingame saves. The filename is the same as the name you see ingame appended with a .sav
Blokker_1999ParticipantSimplest way would be to bring the game into windowed mode by pressing alt+enter .
Blokker_1999Participantare you certain you did not add a passenger stop to the goods line?
Blokker_1999ParticipantIndeed they are. AMD drivers are always numbered in a yy.mm fashion, just like ubuntu. I would suggest trying it with the official AMD drivers first, unless you are uncomfortable with using closed source drivers.
January 7, 2015 at 23:03 in reply to: Is there a playable demo for people interested in buying? #15735Blokker_1999ParticipantWell, game over may be a bit harsh. But by the time i’ve hit the cliff with performance i usually have a well developed map that can still be improved and expanded upon, but the challange in itself is gone unless i sabotage my own game.
I’m still playing myself, but mainly because i want to reach all the achievements (would be a first on a game for me :p )
Blokker_1999ParticipantTrains get a mapping from station to station. Waypoints help the game decide what route to take. But since a train is not designed to stop at a waypoint, the game will not calculate a route to the waypoint. Why would you want to send a train to a place where there is no station?
Blokker_1999ParticipantAre the drivers for your graphics card up to date? And what drivers do you use? The official ones from AMD or the open source drivers? Further more: why Ubuntu 10.4? I would like to point out that on the steam page the requirements for this game say a minimum of Ubuntu 12.10 is required.
Blokker_1999ParticipantDeadlocks only result on bad designs
I had multiple deadlocks yesterday. All of them on sections of the track i wasn’t even touching. For an unknown reason the game decided that it should the direction of the line on those tracks. I’ve since learned that I need to use more waypoints. After every junction i now include waypoints (by selecting a passing signal which is already there) to prevent the line from switching tracks on me. And that has nothing to do with design. I see no reason why the game would switch them around when I’m messing with another line.
