ParticipantLooking forward to seeing other peoples stuff 🙂

ParticipantSame here, living in the uk has shown me how dirty and nasty our modern trains can be but our locomotive history is fascinating and we have the odd nice one these days, a tube train would be uber cool as well!

ParticipantIs there a max capacity to stations?

ParticipantIve found maintenance costs to be perfect in my play through , as it help identifies the most profitable roots in all areas and which trains i should be using for different jobs ect.
Ive had fluctuating profits from 28 to 17 million by late game due to experimenting with different train networks, this shows that trains do in deed cost ALOT of money but if you’ve set up to deal with the hit and miss nature of the business simulation side of the game its all part of the learning and mastery of this great game!

ParticipantWow very impressed with the community spirit for this game! its very deserving as it is a brilliant at what it does, but yer back on point. I completely understand how it could well become very difficult for any machine to be able to process a large map size with each city having over a 1000 full generated citizens in late game. I have come to the conclusion that city growth is pretty much already optimized to the best of anyones ability to allow the game to run of most peoples gaming machines in late game, anymore and it would become a laggy mess even when graphics are not loading in.
However as this limitations cannot be overcome easily , in my personal opinion i cant speak for anyone else, I would like for the goods requirement for towns/cities to increase as this would allow for much more flexibility for freight networks and would make the game more fun and challenging for me to try and deal with the logistical nightmare that might be trying to send a fleet of goods trucks through a crowded city with trains, trams and buses.
Thank you for all the responses!

ParticipantThis post is awesome thanks for the tips with building signals correctly guys!

ParticipantIf the growth of the cities were higher there would be more cargo equaling better industry train network and just much nicer speed in growth plus would be more fun 😀

ParticipantLooks like unless we can raise the pop of a town or increase the demand of goods per capita there is no way to increase industry demands. A production facility will only produce as many resources as a factory will use, and a factory will only produce the amount of goods a town will take. The best way to achieve a HUGE factory set up will to connect one factory to multiple towns with possible multiple town visits on one line if somehow you could make that work.

ParticipantExactly! And I’ve only just managed to recently fill a 160m with a 100 passenger train but my longest freight is 4 large open wagons :/, hmm i feared that as the production facilities are so heavily dependent on multiple simulation conditions rather than a simple algorithm. I hope its patched if no modding can be done, if not i may fall to using a cost mod to remove the maintenance on large freight trains but it wont be the same 🙁

ParticipantI created lines as stated above
1) Coal Mine > Steel Mill
2) Iron Mine > Steel Mill
3) Steel Mill > Town
and the lines are ticked as connected but after 2 years and double trains on each line their production is about 6-8!
How do i increase production, i have 100mil in the bank so can do anything but i just want a large freight line working!

ParticipantWith regards to long tunnels it is just finicky and laggy but you can delete them if you find the right spot, kinda of how delicate you have to be when placing signals at some crossings. As for tunnels now trapped under ground, i have no idea either cannot seem to select either 🙁
