mods – Train Fever Official Website (archived) Wed, 13 Jan 2016 21:22:28 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.7.2 Install mods on Mac without Steam /forums/topic/install-mods-on-mac-without-steam/ Wed, 13 Jan 2016 21:22:28 +0000 /forums/topic/install-mods-on-mac-without-steam/ Continue reading ]]> Totally puzzled. All help I could find would mention Steam installs on Mac. But I get the game trough macgamestore (Steam-less like GAG?). So the directory structure is completely different.

Roughly there are two locations:

1. Applications/MacGameStore/Games/Train Fever (and below is  basically core game files). Probably shall not be touched in linux/osx traditions.

2. Users/ZZZ/Library/Application Support/Train Fever/… here all the local data would go, save games, caches etc.

TFMM does not recognise any of those locations. And I can not figure out directory structure to place mods in #2 manually.

Any tips are appreciated!

[Mod Request] Higher goods demand /forums/topic/mod-request-higher-goods-demand/ Sat, 26 Sep 2015 12:37:05 +0000 /forums/topic/mod-request-higher-goods-demand/ Continue reading ]]> Hey all, is it yet possible to modify the goods requirements for the cities?

I’ve found the lua file for making them grow faster, and start bigger, but nothing about how many goods they demand.

I’d like to boost it by about 10x… That way, it wouldn’t be possible to supply 4-5 towns from one oil refinery.

What does a mod need to be recognized as a mod? /forums/topic/what-does-a-mod-need-to-be-recognized-as-a-mod/ Fri, 27 Feb 2015 17:22:24 +0000 /forums/topic/what-does-a-mod-need-to-be-recognized-as-a-mod/ Continue reading ]]> Now that the new mod system is here I wonder what it needs to get a mod be recognized as a mod? I tried putting a main.lua file into the mod’s folder inside the mod folder and change some variables I think which are necessary but that didn’t work. Maybe one of the devs can answer, that would be nice!

Modding capability? /forums/topic/modding-capability/ Thu, 20 Jun 2013 19:08:26 +0000 /forums/topic/modding-capability/ Continue reading ]]> One of the best things I love about OpenTTD is the absolutely amazing modding ability. (and the modding community it has because of this). With the NewGRFs you can get for OTTD you can take the basegame and make it oh so much better, going so far as making it perfectly playable over a hundred years before you normally can start.   (The only way I play OTTD is to start in 1800 with horse drawn carriages and sailing ships)

So my question is, how moddable will Train Fever be?

Side note: Honestly these days with expenses being a factor for myself, a game with extensive moddability and a good modding community to go with it is pretty crucial for me to make the decision to buy a game, modders can do so so so much for the longevity of a game and turn it from a game I play for a few weeks to a game I play for a few years.( There is a reason why I only played Total War: Shogun 2 for a couple hours and uninstalled, while Medieval 2: Total War has a constant place on my HDD)
