Actually I use this strategy:

 

Rail:

Freight:

CargoRail (1,2,3,4,5…) (goods)

Passenger:

(city name) – (city name)

 

Road:

Bus:

Schnellbus (1,2,3,4,5…) for long distance bus

(name of the city) (1,2,3,4,5…) for local bus

Tram:

(name of the city) (1,2,3,4,5…) for local trams

Interurban (1,2,3,4,5…) for intercity trams.
