traffic jam, error report, workaround and solution /forums/topic/traffic-jam-error-report-workaround-and-solution/ Sun, 02 Aug 2015 16:10:54 +0000 /forums/topic/traffic-jam-error-report-workaround-and-solution/ Continue reading ]]> I read plenty of traffic jam mails here,. I think, to avoid thos is one of the intended challenges of the game.

But I have observed 2 cases, where I think the simulation software is responsible

1) On a street with two lanes for each direction, a car with an intended left turn should use the left lane.

2) A vehicle which is doing a U-turn on the street (e.-g. at the end of its route) should ths do only, when all parts of the vehicle fits on the new lane.

How to reproduce this situation: I created an intended  traffic jam in Lane A at the end of the route of a tram with horses which is coming frome Lane B and has to make a U-turn into the jam on lane A. What you see is, that the horses make the turn, but the rest not.

Lane B is now blocked as long as there is a jam on lane A.

Lane A is not blocked. The traffic goes “through” the horse.

This problem does not happen anymore, when the tram is replaced by a horse-less tram.

I think, the software solution is that the vehicle in lane A which stopped to allow the U-turn from B, should give space for the whole turning vehicle (horse + tram).

As a workaround you can stop the traffic on lane A and allow the U-turn. Or you use only vehicles which makes the U-turn in one single step.

But maybe the best solution is: Do not allow U-turns!

Tram improvements /forums/topic/tram-improvements/ Wed, 06 May 2015 15:52:21 +0000 /forums/topic/tram-improvements/ Continue reading ]]> The tram system within this game is reasonable, but has some areas where improvements would be much appreciated.

For example, the vast majority of trams have pantographs(the section at the top for getting an electrical connection from overhead wires), yet they do not require overhead wires. If this were to be introduced as a new requirement(or vanilla mod), that would be brilliant.

Also, many trams in real life actually are capable of moving onto real-world train tracks when going between towns and cities. If this were made possible(alongside the equivalent speed improvements that are typically found with this), then Trams could be very much viable for inter-city travel, much like they are in the real world.

Please post thoughts and comments below.

Avenues Please /forums/topic/avenues-please/ Fri, 27 Feb 2015 17:20:37 +0000 /forums/topic/avenues-please/ Continue reading ]]> Hi. I am getting headache of all the traffic after 1940s. Trams are stuck and its really no fun. Can you please add Avenues.. and please make the bus lanes work, because normal cars drives on them! The 4 lane roads with bus lanes works, but the 2 lane roads with bus lanes doesnt….

Please add this to the game! Essential I think!

I see no difference in city growth with or without inside transport /forums/topic/i-see-no-difference-in-city-growth-with-or-without-inside-transport/ Sat, 27 Sep 2014 00:43:02 +0000 /forums/topic/i-see-no-difference-in-city-growth-with-or-without-inside-transport/ Continue reading ]]> I have all the cities in a map connected. 2 cities have the exact same connections, one to another and 1 more city. Exact same frequency since they are served by the same line. Receives 100% of demanded goods.

One have tram lines, 4 of them since decades. The other never got inside transportation.

One have 736 population, the other 738.

Whats up with city growth?

If the game mechanics is like this I will never make inside transport. If you make inside transport in all cities of the map you will be replacing trams/buses 24/7. The message of replace vehicles is there every single month. So annoying.

Bus and tram routes problem and bug? /forums/topic/bus-and-tram-routes-problem-and-bug/ Wed, 10 Sep 2014 22:09:56 +0000 /forums/topic/bus-and-tram-routes-problem-and-bug/ Continue reading ]]> Hi everyone,

really like the game so far, but I have two problems with it.

First, If you route a new bus/tram line, the game then suggests you a system-preferred route which sometimes wants to do some loops around street blocks you do not want to navigate to.

When I started the game the dead end roads annoyed me, so I started to close the road gaps. That lead to circles inside the city which are perfect for tram/bus routes (stations A->B->C->D with A next stop already) at first view.

The more I play the game my thoughts altered. In my mind real cities do not have those closed loops in traffic transport. Normally the busses/trams go from one point of the city, then mostly through the center and then to another point . So the bus/tram routes describes a line and not a circle.

So I played another few games and stopped closing those dead end routes and let the city grow mostly native. I built bus/tram routes through the center as mentioned above, as in real cities. In game that only seems to function if I build a route like A-B-C-D-C-B, but will probably do some loops here and there.

Second, the part that freeks me out and is probably a bug. When I expand existing bus/tram routes or want to add a new route into random city on the map, then it always happens that the routes I am not editing will change in weird ways. The other routes then gets random loops where busses are lost. When I want to correct the infected route then another route is wrong and so on.

Sorry for the long text and mistakes in english language. Hope you got my problem.

Tram track – question /forums/topic/tram-track-question/ Mon, 11 Aug 2014 21:58:28 +0000 /forums/topic/tram-track-question/ Is the tram track will be laid not only on the road? Would have been nice, to be able to create a more extensive network of trams.

Sorry – my english is bad 😉
