^ Yes, given it’s an acceptable format with the viewer or an editor that is capable to converting it to an acceptable format or even making sure it’s compatible with TF’s means of handling vehicles. It’s a matter of licensing/copyright which could end up being a different matter entirely- or it couldn’t. Some people (like me, for instance) would love to model the vehicle on their own instead of converting models. I don’t know the whole list of what the converter-editor supports so it’s mainly a case by case basis.
Congrats on the release guys; good luck on the competition too! I can’t wait to see my own Shinkansen models released alongside this ^_^

No problem. I’m sure as hell not going to be able to release my version[s] of the Shinkansen rolling stock past that incredibly ambiguous deadline (more into the end of the year since I know nil of modeling). It looks great though, excellent work with the carriage variants. 😀
E: Do you plan to make the other series like me as well?
You need to specify the correct material file in the msh file (ie …/res/models/materials). You can usually copy mtl files but you have to change them so that they don’t conflict.
Also nice models, looks like I have something to look up to when I want to model the 0 series too ^^
Actually, I’ve been working on trying my first big modeling project being the 0 Series Shinkansen for a while now (ever since I found out there’s decent mod support for TF). No real progress as I learn the basics of modeling but the smaller details of the bogies are a pain for an amateur modeler like me. Not to mention there’s not a fantastic amount of [English] documentation on the 0 series, but I’m making do slowly 🙂
I don’t think I’ll enter this competition though, I’m still really sucky at modeling and Urban wasn’t clear (just an implication) on the exact deadline of the competition. I’m planning to release the entire (excluding prototypes) Shinkansen rolling stock at some point so be prepared for that I suppose ^^
