Yep, just noticed this today, 3 pax decided to jump off one of my high speed trains, it left a station full and arrived at the next one with 3 fewer pax.
leewParticipantThere are no Autobahn in the game, so the max speed for cars should be about 100km/h. Trains can reach up-to 300km/h so should be faster over longer distances.
leewParticipantWhich bridge is nice? There are quite a few bridges in that picture 🙂 The curved bridge in the foreground which is part of a flying junction. There are two road bridges, the original bridges had to be bulldozed as I could not build level crossings over the roads, as much as I tried I just kept getting “collision”. Then there are the two skewed rail bridges over the river. I tried to upgrade the first 2 track bridge to 4 tracks but just kept getting “collision” so ended up having to build the second bridge separately, looks quite good I think.
There is a second flying junction just off the top right of the picture, I have two lines in an ‘X’ shape with this city at the center of the ‘X’. Originally this was a 2 track station with flat junctions each side however it became congested so I upgraded it to the current arrangement.

leewParticipantI think it was just under 750 pop, because I just got the “city” achievement after taking that picture
leewParticipantleewParticipantThe church may be a Grade I Listed building and thus not bulldozeable.

leewParticipantI have made double tracks. Basically you need to make the terminal stations at each end single track, then just drag one track into the other with a switch just before the terminal station. Don’t forget signals of course, place one way signals at regular intervals along each track, the number needed depends on the number of trains you intend to run, for more trains use more signals. If you place too many signals then trains are more likely to bunch up. By using good signal spacing you can keep the trains apart. Don’t place any signals between the end of the double track section and the terminal stations. I am British so I run my trains on the left but you can run them on the right if you wish. If running your trains on the left then the signals should be in the “six foot” (the space between the two tracks), if running trains on the right then the signals should be on the outsides of the double track.
September 7, 2014 at 16:07 in reply to: Bug: just one bus/tram station per road segment possible #5641leewParticipantLong segments can also be a problem when creating junctions, as sometimes the road needs to be moved a tiny amount to create the junction, which means spending a silly amount of money to demolish all the houses next to the road before the junction can be built. It would be nice if there was a limit to how long a road section could be, such as two blocks. If you click and drag a road which is longer than that then it automatically gets divided up into smaller segments?
leewParticipantAs far as I am aware there is currently no way to add extra platforms or length to an existing station without bulldozing the original station and building a new one. A feature I would really like to see is the ability to expand a station without having to bulldoze it. Please tell me if there is indeed some way to do this, thanks, lee.
I would much prefer to be able build stations like in Chris Sawyer’s Locomotion where you build the track first and then build the platforms on the tracks, this would give much greater flexibility to building stations such as building them on a curve, or with different platforms not parallel to each other, or building the station on a bridge.

leewParticipantYou need to build the track with a more gentle gradient, the shallower the better. If you turn on contour lines it will give you a better idea of the terrain. Something like the red line in this picture may work for you:
leewParticipantI don’t think you understand how railways work. Basically trains have smooth metal wheels which run on smooth metal rails. If the slope of a track is too steep then the wheels will slip on the rails and the train won’t be able to climb the slope. Have a look at some real railways, do they go up steep hills? (rack railways and funicular railways don’t count here, train-fever only features “adhesion” railways at the moment). You will probably find that where a real railway needs to overcome a steep incline then there will be zig-zags or spirals in the line (Have a look at the Gotthard railway in Switzerland to see good examples of spirals. In train-fever you need to do exactly the same to overcome a steep incline. This is not a fault with the game, it’s realism.
September 6, 2014 at 23:03 in reply to: First Impressions… suggested improvements (long post alert!) #5343leewParticipantSomething I would really like to see is when you select the bulldozer, the cursor changes to a bulldozer cursor. I have accidentally bulldozed things including my main station and a bridge which took my ages to build correctly when I had forgotten I had the bulldozer selected as it is not very obvious you are in bulldozer mode. Also talking about bulldozing things, it would be very nice if when you bulldoze a track or a bridge which has not yet been been used by a train, you get the money back which you paid for it. Alternatively some way of planning out a line before actually building it would be very welcome. Something else which would be very welcome is an easy way to remove signals as it’s easy to place them incorrectly on the wrong side of the track. In Chris Sawyer’s Locomotion which I have played for thousands of hours one can remove signals by right clicking them which is much quicker than having to go and select the bulldozer, remove the signal then re-select the signal building mode.
leewParticipantok, to try and resolve the problem with this tunnel, I built two more tunnels (so there are now two tunnels in each direction), however I have tried various signaling layouts and I can’t seem to get seem to get the trains to use the new tunnels, if there is already a train in one of the two tunnels in a given direction, the second train will not enter either tunnel and will just wait at the portal. Is there anyway to get the trains to use the other parallel tunnel if the first one is in use?? Many thanks, lee.
leewParticipantSomething I would really like to see is a display of the gradient (in %) of a track section when you are building it, often it is difficult to see the gradient of a track section when building it. Also more precise control of the gradient would be nice, perhaps a box where you can type in your desired gradient in % down to as many decimal places as you want.
