Thanks! In the almost 2 years i played TF (on and off) i never had to deal with this 20 minutes restriction. Very easy to deal with, isn’t it. I am finally confronted with it because of this modded map i’m trying. It has its main industry on top of a mountain and for delivery of raw materials i want to use railway. Nice challenge to get it from the valley to the top of the mountain. Takes a long time of course certainly still in the 19th century.

I got the longest time back to 17 minutes. What i don’t understand is why it works until production reaches 27% and then stops. One would think that if it’s the time restriction why does it work in the first place ?…. So that’s what makes me think that there’s something wrong with this modded map. If that’s possible anyhow…

A truly big challence was also the Grand Canyon map. Got it all working. Great fun!

No, you have to schedule your trucks yourself. Usually i’ll buy the first truck, when it leaves the load station i’ll put the game in fast forward, wait for the truck to arrive at its destination, then let the second truck go. Wait for either the first or second truck to arrive about half way the route then let the third truck go, etc and so on depending on the lenght of the route.

Of course in the beginning, still with these dreaded slow buses blocking the way, this doesn’t work very well. That’s why i usually setup intercity passenger transport by train only initially.

You poor, delusive soul… don’t you know that an aged Gato Class sub is peanuts to a heavily armed F-35C. I blow you out of the water before you can say hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. For the last time, hands off my little Blue Jeans Lady, you hear !

Hehe…. But seriously, i just thought i’d try and add something positive for a change here ( didn’t anticipate it would turn into a war.. ;-))  Certainly after the great upgrade i have nothing but fun with TF. Sure, there’s a lot to wish for but isn’t that always the case. Personally i sense a great dedication that the developers have for this game. Important to me. One thing being the way they have realized to bring life into the cities, particularly human life. Very important if you are supposed to haul passengers around in a simulation game.

Even on this rather small scale, ‘the people’ that inhabit the TF cities are just fun to watch, i’d say very well animated and that little lady in blue jeans is downright cute. Quite realistic too as they stream out of a train station all together and each and every one of them finds his/her way to their home, work or shop. “Huh ??” Yes, very well done ! Compare that to the terrible atrosious looking zombies that board your bus in OmniBus simulator ! Uggghhh!!  The TS devs over at DoveTailGames might want to have a good look at TF people too before they release their new TS version. ( athough i find the pirouettes and moon walks that TS passengers constantly perform quite hilarious to watch :o)

    Just saying. That’s all.  😉

Thank you for your insight as well, GC. The main thing is, as far as i’m concerned, and i don’t know if you played TF *before* the big upgrade of last year like i did, that running city bus/tram lines has become much more realistic than before the upgrade. Atleast in my perspective…

Running intercity bus lines has always been a major hit. So much so that, in my eyes, it often became ridiculous with people crowding up the stops likeif  there’s a pop concert going on. On the other hand, getting people to use rail connection between cities would often deteriorate tremendously as time would go on. This all seems to be much more regulated now. Even with every Tom, Dick and Harry owning a car, passenger trains and city bus/tram lines remain profitable thru the years. ( i’m in 2036 now….. 3 x a billionaire… would’ve been nice to see some futuristic trains/cars driving around… 😉

Ok, i’m in easy mode, that’s true… Might try your suggestion an go hard difficulty once i get tired of my easy map !  😉

    cheers, Jan

I don’t use hard difficulty, GC… Normally i choose easy and medium or large map. Never tried two circular city bus/tram lines, i found that a back and forth line always works well. Usually the balance for my city bus/tram lines is in the green. Here is my setup of a city tramline at average. 40 stops counting both sides of the streets, 5 trams, 3 minutes frequency:  http://sectionf8.com/f86files/tftramline.jpg

Line usage heavily depends of course. Currently on a large map with only about 40% of the cities running a bus/tramline. Lowest is 33% highest 76%. Working on it.  😉

I played TF right from the day it was released. Great fun but the traffic jams and a few other annoyances made me quit for more than a year in favor of TS. I was very pleasantly surprised when i tried TF again after the big upgrade. So much better, certainly regarding passenger transportation as well, be it by rail or road.

If you have not tried a back and forth city bus/tram line i can certainly recommend it.

    cheers,

    Jan

My experience is that two (or more) city tram/bus lines don’t work. I use only one city bus or tram line and they are always very profitable. I also always use a ‘back and forth’ line. I start with a bus or tram station next to the train station and another one at the far end of the city. Then upgrade the streets making sure to follow a path that goes thru all districts. Then place stops along the path at each side of the street and start the new line, beginning at the train station, by selecting only the stops at the right side of street. Arrived at the station at the end of the line i select all stops at the left side of the street following the numbers backwards. Very easy, very quick and always works. Tram- or busloads of passengers. 🙂

Thanks, Kiwi ! Good to know. I’ll keep the cows grazing then. 😉

Understand about adding more and different resources takes a lot of time. I just thought i’d let you know. You probabely wouldn’t have thought of that, would you…;-) I do hope you think about it when the time comes.

    Thanks much again !

Thanks, Kiwi, really love your ATT and sofar it’s working great. Fantastic job you are doing there !

One more question if i may and it’s possible you might find it quite silly but i’ll go ahead and ask it anyway.  😉

People can do without cars, furniture, household stuff if push comes to shove but what they can’t do without is food, right ? I do deliver cars, furniture and household stuff alright and that is more or less quite appreciated but what i don’t deliver is food…

My question is will this have any effect on city growth in ATT ?…

Why i don’t deliver food ? It’s because i am a vegetarian and even if it’s only virtual i just can’t get myself to load up these poor virtual cows and take them to the virtual slaughter house. Because meat is the only food to deliver atm will my cities in ATT never come to fruition ?  (pun intended 🙂

I hope not because i will then have to go back to default TF. Wouldn’t it be possible to add more diversity to the food department by introducing fruits and vegetables ?

In short, will cities still grow normally *without* delivering food ?

Thanks for reading and i hope you don’t find it too silly…  😉

    Cheers,Jan

Not only thanks for the tip but Thanks a million for your ATT mod !! ( sorry, didn’t realize  you are the developer of this amazing ATT… 😉

I have installed version 0.805. Atm i have one question: can i just continue with my current map (1947) based on version 0.800 or do i best start a new map ?

    Thanks so much again !!

    Cheers, Jan

Thanks, TT. Sounds interesting. A Map Editor…. Does that belong to ATT or will this be an official TF release ? ( or maybe even belong to TF2 ??… ) ATT seems to work fine as is too. From the 17 railway lines i have setup on a small map (pax and cargo) 12 are profitable sofar. All cities connected via railway and most get two types of goods delivered. Quite happy with ATT.  🙂

“At the moment it is not possible to deliver various types of goods to the city, however “ATT” is prepared for this”

Really !??… Ok! Thanks, that’s great!.

    “Fingers crossed for the January-Patch”

What patch would that be ?….TF  or ATT ?…..

    Thanks!

    >Then you definitely got something wrong. There was never an issue you are describing but there always was, and there still is about supplying one same CITY by multiple industries, even different ones.<

Yes, i have always been aware of that, Tossi. But i mainly played small maps with the initial release of TF and didn’t like to see the production of a mill or ref deteriorate vastly once i setup another one. Not that much needed with a small map anyway. It’s just that i’d like to try a large map now. No worries, it’s going pretty well. ;- )
