Once the progam I develop was recognized by McAfee as a virus too.
We had to contact McAfee and they solved the issue. This is a standard process. It is also an issue between Urban Games and McAfee; not an issue for us as players. Hope the devs got it on their todo list… This can be resolved in a day or two.
yidParticipant+1 from me, too.
I’d also like to see for example textile industries who sell their stuff to tailors or cloth shops (maybe a commercial building), alcohol to pub (a very recreational building), machinery to factories and so on.
Also the 20 minutes rule does not work for goods IMHO. For people this may be a good idea (people who travel are much more interesting than those staying at home for the game), but goods who travel as far as they can, and they like it? You’re kidding! If there is a sawmill next to a source of wood and another one far far away (but not more than 20 minutes game time) then wood will be transported to the far one. This is plainly insane! Goods need another rule. 20 minutes can be a restriction, but the “as far as possible” rule should not apply. An “as fast as possible” rule should produce much better results for goods.
I’m very close to move back to RRT3 again, because there is just more action on the map.
yidParticipantIt appears that the same wishes being brought up over and over again.
I’d like to hear something from the developers about them. So, dear devs: which of these problems seem to be important or unimportant to you, and which ones would you like to fix first?
yidParticipant@Nickos that’s the reason why I build two opposite lines. Say A is at your train station:
Line A-B-C-D-E-A fills up at A, drops passengers at B,C (short ways); takes passengers at D-E and moves them to the Station quickly.
Line A-E-D-C-B-A fills up at A, drops passengers at E,D (short ways); takes passengers at C,B and moves them to the Station quickly.
The result is: short trips for everyone! Nobody hanging around in the bus for 3/4 of the line.
yidParticipantHi,
I think the problem depends on the feature that the KI tries to use all bus stations / tracks on railway stations evenly. On railroad this is solved by signals. With busses or trams I had good results by placing a stop on both side of the street (they are automatically grouped together) and doing two lines: one runs A-B-C-D and the other one D-C-B-A. during build time sometimes twists in mysterious ways but in the the end it normally snaps to the correct route in the end.
Especially with trams, tram railways also help (just don’t build them everywhere).
BTW: I am a fan of circle lines since CIM1. I know they are uncommon in real life but there are exceptions, for example the Circle Line in the city of London.
yidParticipantA special killer is the “if the train goes into the depot, all freight is lost”-feature. We need some command like: “Dear train, go into the depot, update your locomotive (or carts) and get back to the line, as soon as possible (when you pass the next depot).”. Even better to be able to do this for all trains in the same line.
yidParticipantI found out that scrolling edge-of-screen-scrolling does not work if your mouse is a zone of a menu (like the 4 courners of the screen or the build menu. I other places it works fine.
yidParticipantAnother sugestion: the cargo lines are a bit to straight forward to me. There should be more than one thing that can be done with planks, not just “goods”. In Railroad Tycoon planks could be converted into furniture, weapons (until 1900something) or toys, it was also used to build houses (houses consumed planks).
Another example: Steel was converted into weapons, cars, or goods. I TF it is just “goods”
yidParticipantHas anybody mentioned Meter Track yet? It could manage steeper terrain and narrower curves. Also I’d like a map option which creates not just cities but towns as well.
For a town a two track Meter Track combined station could be sufficient. They could be evolved around certain industries such as the saw mills.
yidParticipant- Comparison of Locos / Waggons: Need to see two Locomotives in the “Buy” Screen back to back, so I can select the one I like without switching.
yidParticipantI don’t want to plan everything in advance. The game is the simulator, and the simulator will show me if my plans work or not. If the system is complex enough, a small sketch on a scrap piece of paper as my business plan is sufficient. Anything more will be destroyed by dynamic city growth anyway.
After all I think it should stay a game, not a planing tool. Gaming is about decisions but you can do something wrong. If you took the wrong decision, change it, or do it better next time.
About CIM2: just take a $200k credit first and you’ll never run into cash problems. Promised.
yidParticipantYou mean like in Cities in Motion 2, where Trams can use subway lines. Yes that would be great! I second that.
yidParticipantThis cannot be a DLC! If there is a constraint on memory or performance, it is an elemental design issue. If not, there is no reason except a “political” one.
