@qetuouk: The buslines in the image looks bizarre, but the travel time for a single coach is about 4 min, quite a high standard. If you take the same route and add a modern bus from the 1950’s, then it’s travel time will be shorter than 2 min.

As time goes, I make the bus lines bigger and bigger as newer buses comes in. Thus the bigger lines can cover larger parts of the town and promote town growth further at an explosive rate. The bigger the development explosion, the better for my company. Big bucks! 😉

I usually build 2 stations for each town, take a look here: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198010767724/screenshot/549766634006047455

This really helps in the early years with stagecoaches. I’ve got 2 loops from each station, serving the half of the town. Making millions with the train, but losses with the stagecoaches. Not enough people driving my coaches.

There is a guide about frequency on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/app/304730/guides/?browsefilter=trend&requiredtags%5B%5D=Gameplay%20Basics#scrollTop=900

I can verify the peeps will vanish if their targeted building or building where they live changes or removed. I cannot comment on the 20 min rule, because I didn’t done an actual observation and waiting 20 minutes.

@TrainInfluenza: I also make my train connections longer in the later years. This is a rather slow and cumbersome process, because now I have to rebuild most of my rail networks to accommodate faster and longer distance lines, but its part of the fun and I really enjoy it.

That’s why a person have to get as many millions in the early years to make provision for rebuilds in the later years and be able to pay the partial losses when the lines begin to run. Most people don’t grasp this concept and don’t understand why they loosing money. This game is focused on continual development, this is why I love this game so much and give me endless fun on the map, even if I already connected all the towns, there is always room for improvement and expansion.

You mean optimisation period, I overall don’t get lag. Only lag I experience is when I turn the camera and the VRAM on my graphics card going crazy. It lags a 2-5 seconds then everything is normal. The staggering I get when I build rails, end of month, put train on the line, lots of windows pops up and in cities.

When I’m in cities, I have to zoom in to see a small part of the city to prevent staggering. FSX runs like crap on my computer when on full details and so on. I have to run the game on medium, despite having all the service packs and FSX Acceleration.

Hmmmm, sounds like Railroad Tycoon 3. I know Railroad Tycoon 3 you paid a fixed fee to maintain tracks, and then extra as traffic increases on the stretch. You also paid a special fee when using another players rail tracks and so on.

If you want to increase the chain, look over here: http://www.train-fever.net/filebase/index.php/Entry/8-Cargo-mod/ or http://www.train-fever.net/filebase/index.php/Entry/223-Advanced-Industry-Mod-BETA/

I rather waiting for the dev to implement a map editor for me to be able to specify where I want the cities and industries.

Yes, the CPU is the bottleneck at the moment, but your graphics card don’t have enough memory, well, for working yes, but not enough for smooth performance.

I suggest you play on small maps at the moment. You need at least 3 GB VRAM for your graphics card for optimal performance. Try reducing texture levels in the options for better gameplay. Currently the ordinary RAM have to manage the data and transfer it between your graphics card and memory, which can cause major staggering.

I do hope the dev can put more attention in the coding of the game to optimise the performance.

@Furi, 20 fps at the beginning of the game, sounds right. Moving camera around and drop in fps, also true. Later years cities begin to slow game down, on the spot! This is exactly what I experience, BUT, I do not having lag, only staggering, almost like in your video. This only implies the CPU is unable to process all the data efficiently.

The dev knows what aspect of the optimisation they must work on now after what we discussed. I also want to point out about the textures using all my available graphics card VRAM. I hope they can implement texture compression.

@Furi, what kind of video capture software do you use. I use FFsplit and I have to say the capturing slow my game considerably down with a few frames. I think my game works at the same fps as yours when you not capture a video of the game. I also have frame drops enable to save data for uploading. The video use a lot of data.

This is one of the video’s I captured using FFsplit. This video is made with the old stable version v6.0.7, which was performing worse than the new version I updated to of v0.7.0 Test build 26.

The video shows I working on a single line, but if you look in the lines dialog, many other lines also works, you don’t see them. This means the game was already take a load and you can see the game lag a bit, but not as terrible as the other video creator.

Somewhere something is over complicated, definitely not the GPU or CPU, must be something else. But I likely want to point out you use an AMD whilst I use Intel. Therefore I cannot say if the game perform better if I had an AMD CPU or not.

I see, the performance of the video maker is terrible and you say your game perform the same way. What is strange to me is the people with better PC’s, the game perform worse as to people with mediocre PC’s

If you check the TF store page again, you will see the publisher is Gambitious and not TF (Urban Games) themselves. I suspect Gambitious and Steam must have some sort of arraignment on how many copies must be sold. Gambitious were the people who funded the game through donations, because you paid for Gambitious and then Gambitious sent the money to Urban Games. So, technically Gambitious is the publisher and decided if there must be a sale or not, but I can be wrong about it.

@jo_vink,  nice station there, will certainly use it. But what about terminals? I can create a simple terminal by adding prellblock from” wohlanskind” depot mod pack. The challenge here is to create an entrance to the front of the station and not on the side of the station.

This is a cool idea. If somebody can create other types of stations, then this should be possible. I vote for it! And for landmarks, what purpose will they fill, or do you mean landmark stations?
