no we aren’t all dead in a computer crash

    Classic! 😀

I’ve changed it to a combination of many different suggestions instead:

    • Make citizens use the fastest/cheapest form of transport available to them dependent on their income level
Simcity had a feature where public transport use was dependent on the citizen’s wealth level; poor people would mostly use public transport, medium would use the fastest and rich would mostly use their private vehicles. Since there are more poorer people in a city than rich (generally speaking), traffic would decrease if your transport network was excellent.

I think this makes more sense. Anyone disagree?

    • [20-min rule] Make citizens aware of traffic jams If they actually take 2 hours by car to get from A to B, make them give up the car for good!

    Isn’t this implemented now?

To be honest, I’m not sure (this list was not started by me). I’ve never gotten up to a stage in the game where traffic was an issue. The game always becomes unplayable for me around 1925 since I’ve already got so much stuff by then and traffic certainly isn’t an issue for me at that stage. So, I’d have to take your word for it, unless someone else can confirm?

Also, and more likely, if the building they were traveling to/from gets demolished (from the player or the town upgrading itself), the passenger/good will disappear.

Simple, yet effective. And it would keep a lot of people happy.

    • Add option to change Particles (off/low/med/high)

    Only On/Off make sense.

Are you sure? I’ve seen plenty of games with an adjustable level of particles. Some people might like to still have a few particles showing…

    • Add option to turn off shadows (off/low/med/high) It might look bad, but you could give us this option for weaker computers.

No. This is almost entirely graphics card issue. Even semi weak cards ( like my radeon 6850 ) can run at high shadows.

Although, as an option I think it’s ok. Shadows can make a difference to performance. People with an even worse graphics card than yours could play on a lower setting. It is just a suggestion anyway.

    • Better multicore support
Currently the game supports 2 cores, but mildly. It does not support 4 cores or more (when in reality, there must be 4 different areas of calculation, right?)

This is a vacous request. Without knowing where the performance bottleneck is, we cannot assume it is in the lack of threading.

Yeah, I guess it’s covered under “better performance”.

Anyhow. I attach my semi complete list of bugs:

    http://www.train-fever.com/forums/topic/semi-complete-list-of-bugs-and-usability-issues-4831-repost/

There are some suggestions there as well.

Wow! What a list! It took a while, but I think I’ve added all the suggestions that weren’t already here. Let me know if I missed any.

As the devs said: the next update will come when it comes. Facebook and twitter made people addicted to news and status updates.

    Sad but true.

The is absolutely NO POINT in any of the above until the games core is fixed. What the hell is the point of tram islands or wider roads if u cant run the damn thing on a decent PC?

I agree, that’s why the very first point is about performance issues. But assuming that gets fixed eventually, the other things would be nice to include/fix.

Yeah, it makes you wonder why wagon age is even necessary.

Both audio things can be done with mods. The point of allowing mods in the game is for the devs to be able to concentrate on other things, considering its a very small team.

Ah, good point. Personally, those sounds don’t bother me, those suggestions just came with the original post. In fact, I quite like the “oh yeah” sound, it’s quite funny! 😀

I’ll add a note next to them saying that they can be modded…

Done! I also just noticed there wasn’t any mention of road over rail, so I added that too.

Yeah, they’d really have to re-balance the game for each game speed setting. Some people probably like the current setting, so having an adjustable slider in game would make the vehicles zoom around too fast on the current speed. You’d have to choose the game speed on a new game only, and then use the fast forward options to speed it up while in a game. So for a marathon setting (could be 1 day per minute or two), your trains would appear to travel at the same speed as a quick game (current speed) on the normal play speed. The only differences being the time a day takes to complete, income per delivery (much less because much more frequent), frequency of new cargo/passengers appearing (could probably use a random number generator based on probability, depending on supply, which could be used for all game speeds anyway instead of just at the start of each month) and possibly expenses per month.

I’d start a sticky post, but it’s a huge commitment. And I don’t know if there’s a way to allow more than one person to edit the original post.

Does anyone here have the commitment necessary for this undertaking? This forum needs you!

I had a well developed map by 1925 and it became unplayable then (Most of my game is spent in pause mode). I wouldn’t say that was even close to finished.

How about customisable conditions for game start? Choose whether you want the feature or not as you create a new game? Even having a “creative” mode that just lets you build a model railway without worrying about money, I know some people would be interested in that feature. Personally, I can see a great potential with the main connection feature once it has been improved and is functioning correctly (obviously not at the moment). It would add extra realism to the game.
