LowellParticipant
I thought I read where Urban games said they were through with TF. They posted they are making their second game now…except for updates.
Quote from Steam…
This said, we wanted to let you know that we are still improving Train Fever and for sure there will be additional game updates. However, because we also started working on our next game title, Train Fever updates will be less frequent in future. Therefore, we kindly ask you for a bit of patience in this regard.

LowellParticipantI am speaking of the second or two lag every time the game charges maintenance fees and you see the money icons over everything. This is during game play. Take all your stuff out and have a generic game without mods and that pause is shorter, so the game must be scanning all mdl’s it sees.
LowellParticipantI guess I am looking into the file structure of the game as I am making some mods. The main game has one res folder, then inside the mod folder I have 94 mod folders, each one has a res folder. So when the game poles through 95 res folders, is that causing the second or two pause as it reads/writes through it’s lists.
If I remove the mod folder and place a blank one in it’s place, the pause is less. The more mods the bigger that pause seems to get.
??
LowellParticipantThat’s nice but it leaves an exe inside the games main files. Have the Developers tested this to make sure any errors are not being generated leaving the said game to have lag or performance issues?
I see no reason for this as all one needs to do is drag and drop…unless the mod makers can’t understand or update their files.
This is just a thought as this game has so many issues on running smoothly.
LowellParticipantYou have to click on the pictures of the USA, Europe or Custom at the top, then Basic and Advanced you click on those words. In Advanced you can see what Mods you may have installed and activate them.
LowellParticipantI wouldn’t play an old saved map after a major game update. I always start a new map after main game updates. It also sounds like you may need to remove all mods, try the game as is first because it sounds like you have added something to the main game to cause your problem.

LowellParticipantI thought with the new load we are to simply drag and drop mod folders into the new game mod folder. Why even use a game manager for that I am confused? The idea that the Dev’s have is to not load any modded material into the game’s main res folder. Not to mention I see loads of nice old mods on the .net site that are not made for the new mod system.

LowellParticipantWell you had mentioned you were using an SSD for your drive space. I have 2 terabytes in my main drive, this means I have a maxed out page/swap-file size. I wonder if it is your swap-file size? Did you raid-zero enough for extra space?
LowellParticipantSomething is way out of whack, your x79 board and setup is a few levels above my mine. I am running the game fine, full screen all menus in the UI work. Not only am I running the game, but I can run Bandicam, Fraps whatever I want and record game-play fine. Now I am running 24 gigs or system ram, but your gpu has what, 12 gigs of ddr5…mine has 4gig. That should be way more than enough for this game. Maybe give Nvidia a call see if it is some driver issue?
EDIT// Is anyone else using a Titan card playing this game?

LowellParticipantThis is weird. I am using an old X58 EVGA motherboard, 3.2g i7, 960 gpu, 24gig of 2000 MHz ram, 7200 serial drives. The game runs fine.
“?”
With a Titan you should have plenty of gpu resources. What type motherboard are you using?
LowellParticipantFor me the lag trouble starts when the cities start to spawn loads of cars. Also using lots of trucks on a map will make the problem worse.
LowellParticipantTry hovering over the area, then use the mouse wheel.
LowellParticipantThe old way of using managers to install mods was making the game unstable. You have to delete the game through Steam, then reinstall the game. After that Verify the game files through Steam. All mods are to be drag and drop into the games new Mod folder. Do not use managers as they just install mods right back into the game’s content files.
If you delete mods that you have used on a saved game file, then when you reload that saved game file, where is the game to get the model from? Of course it will crash without that if you delete it.
Just re-install the game and you should be good, just don’t use managers for mod installs. Game runs fine.

April 27, 2015 at 02:52 in reply to: I really hope dev focus shifts to map generation options… #18459LowellParticipantThey need to do something and do it quick. People now days move-on fast from game to game. Sid’s RailRoads was more complex and ran better, although too cartoonish. The industry system is no where close to Trainz or Train Simulator.
All the seed maps look the same, every new map is just a repeat of the last.
If I could import Microdem satellite height maps I could make scenarios, using special industry chains, place the railroad names and engines used in said scenario’s to match the railroads of the maps.
