I would really appreciate a comment from Urban Games Devs. on this subject!
This is a minor bug that could easily be fixed in the next patch.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantI do not understand your comment! Surely way-points are part of the mapped route? They are not just means of ‘helping’ the game to find a path. When mapping a route one needs to see the path the trains are to follow, especially when routing through complex junctions. That’s why we need to see the planned route path at each way-point.
This is the same as what happens in CIM2 that may Train Fever gamers are familiar with.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantWhen adding or modding trackwork anywhere of the map you can experience the problem of finding trains running in the reverse direction, on the wrong track, in places far from where the you are working. And if you don’t spot them immediately they cause gridlock, trashing your painfully produced train spacing on any lines that are affected. This can have a painful financial result.
I agree that systematically defining ever line through every junction with waypoints seems to be a practical solution. It’s tedious but is well worth the effort.
It would help if the line path was shown when every way-point is mapped. It currently appears only when a station is mapped! This is an omission that needs to be rectified.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantDouble track building tool (with X crossing at junctions)
Please add a double track building tool to enable us to build double tracks more easily. This would solve the problem of building bridges at angles of much less than 90 degrees. It would also need to able create an X crossing when double track junctions are produced. This would be a massive improvement to the game.
Electrification Tool
Please also add a tool to enable electrification of a line in one go. This would overcome the difficulty people experience with small gaps in the electrification catenary (Overhead line equipment), that are difficult to find.
Third rail (DC) electrification
Please also add third rail (DC) electrification. We have modders who produce third rail electric trains (S-bahn) that are modeled as diesel trains due to the lack of appropriate electrification. The UK has a very large network of third rail electrification serving the country south of London.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantCould we please have a comment from the game devs on this topic?
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantYou can go even further than that, it’s possible to build the station some distance from the town. You simply create a bus or tram route to connect the town and station. You will find that the connecting bus/tram will carry passengers to the station, and make a profit!
This was common in the UK where stations could not easily be built as close to a town as would be desirable. The station was named after the town with the suffix ‘road’ added.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantYou can designate which tracks you trains follow by using ‘way-points’ (signal menu). [You can also use signals as waypoints.]
Simply map then using ‘add station’ tool in the same way as adding stations when setting up the line. Note, the color line route indicator only appears when adding stations, it does not show when you add a way-point; although the way-point appears on the station list. (I think this is a bug!) If you have any gaps as mentioned above you will not be able to setup the line.

This would be in effect a two-lane country road with bus lanes and tram tracks. The only difference would be that it looks better!
I also agree that the tram line tool for adding tracks to existing roads should enable single as well as double tracks.
December 30, 2014 at 13:12 in reply to: Suggestion: Narrow gauge tracks that you can link to tram tracks. #15401Norfolk_ChrisParticipantGood idea! But I would favor standard gauge (same as railways) as the majority of trams, outside mountainous areas, use standard gauge tracks.
This would be a terrific addition to the upcoming USA DLC. The US had vast quantities of of electric interurban lines that ran some very fast services sometimes even including dining facilities. They would make a great addition to the game.
Those interested in US interurban lines see: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCMQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FInterurban&ei=WJaiVJzhIdDTaPmVgKAL&usg=AFQjCNHhhOBOfjZVirXU48P95KXN-xNEaw&bvm=bv.82001339,d.d2s&cad=rja
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantAn additional lower time/speed has been requested many times on this forum. Sadly, like the requests to add railway ‘X’ crossings it falls on deaf ears!
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantDon’t hold your breath! It’s a wind-up.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantI would love to see a UK DLC, but I would prefer they address some of the outstanding issues first!
December 27, 2014 at 10:26 in reply to: (semi) Complete List of Bugs and Usability issues (4831) – repost #15208Norfolk_ChrisParticipantCan we have a comment on this from Urban Games please!
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantThanks! I didn’t know that.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantIt is not an omission, double junctions are currently possible using a switched double junction. They take about 6 seconds to create, and do not use any additional space. Definitely not a PITA. Maybe u just need to see an example.
I would like to see one that has the same capacity, AND occupies the same space as well!
Another omission is that tram tracks cannot be laid across level crossings. This happens in real life in many places.
