The simple (diamond) crossing (pic 2 above) is far more important than the complicated double slip crossing (pic 1). (The pathing through the double slip is far more complicated as it consists of four (4) switches plus one crossing.)
The simple crossing is vital to produce double junctions as shown in alex_dg66’s post above. They are common on all railways worldwide. Even CIM2 has them!

Norfolk_ChrisParticipantWe really do need X crossings to enable the construction of compact double track junctions.
Perhaps it would help to have a double track construction tool to help their construction! It would also make building double track lies easier. I always build my main lines with double track initially.
We also need a slower time/speed setting to enable us the run the game at a more comfortable speed when there are lots of tasks that require out attention. This would be an additional setting, NOT a replacement for the existing time/speed settings!
But I agree, we are getting closer.

Norfolk_ChrisParticipantYou need to post this in the ‘support’ forum.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantThis is what happens in the real world.
In Manchester when the ‘heavy’ rail line from Manchester Victoria to Rochdale via Oldham was converted to light rail, usage very rapidly increased to 3 times the previous usage and still rising! (The trams serve the city and town centers whereas the trains called at stations on edge of towns.)
This would be a nice feature to add to the game, the ability to convert existing rail lines for light rail use, allowing connection to tram lines in the cities. This would avoid the need to provide new inter city tram tracks.
The feature would also enable the construction of new light rail routes. Steeper gradients would be allowed on lines constructed for light rail.
This would also enable US type interurban lines.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantYou could try using the Geldkutche mod.
I use v1.0. You just place one (or more) vehicles in a depot. Each vehicle costs $0 to buy, and has an annul running cost of -$1,000,000 giving you an extra $1,000,000 income per year for each vehicle. You don’t need to set the vehicle to a line, just leave them in a depot. Best to build a separate depot for them in an out of the way corner of the map.
As this does does not modify the game in any way, you can play in the normal way until you run out of money, then buy as may vehicles as necessary to get you out of trouble. If you get too much money just sell the vehicles.
You can find the mod here: http://www.train-fever.net/filebase/index.php/Entry/328-Geldkutsche/
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantOh dear! Looks like this is a wind-up?
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantPerhaps someone from Urban Games could make comment? They must know how this works,
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantI’ve also had a similar issue with M and N rotate keys. Sometimes they just won’t work!
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantThis is a good idea, it would add another dimension to the game.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantIf you send a train to depot while it has it’s doors open, they stay open all the way to the depot! How daft is that!
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantThere are two things that I would like to see in the next Patch:
- Simple diamond crossing to enable compact double (or more) track junctions.
- A much lower speed setting.
These two things (much requested) would massively improve the game!
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantWe need an extra far slower speed for all these reasons:
- To enable us to replace all the trains on a line without going bankrupt.
- To have the time to properly space trains on a line without serious loss of revenue.
- To have the time to enjoy watching our trains and other vehicles operating. It’s sad sad that we have no time to take a break and just watch our lines in operation.
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantYes time does run far to fast! Could we have a lower speed option in the next patch?
Norfolk_ChrisParticipantThanks, I’ll try making sure the streets are empty.
It would be very much appreciated if we could have a station upgrade tool. Is that possible mikael?

Norfolk_ChrisParticipantI would be happy with a simple crossing to enable double track junctions as shown in pic.
