Pasi and simon,

you two make me sick with your sheer attitude.

You say, that the devs don’t support TF? wrong, look at the support forum, look at what they achieved in the last months since release.
They helped me just yesterday with a graphical glitch that appears in TF with Radeons 7700 and 7800 HD’s and it will be fixed in the next patch.
Half assed attempts of patches? Have you guys ever in your lives programmed a game all by yourself without bugs? Have you ever written a patch for a complex program like a computer game all by yourself? If not, stop talking like you were master developers.
EA being good in PR? This is the last point where someone should recognize, that you can’t be taken seriously.
Also EA is a huge developing studio and a huge publisher all by themselves, they don’t need another publisher by their side.

And even if you were right with your harsh “criticism”, in plain english calling bad names, you have no right to be so rude, that just shows, how childish you two are and how little you know about the gaming industry and the process of making games at all.

So if you think, TF is bad, why you bother then and still post here?

I play TF and C:S and it is the other way round, the Traffic in C:S is horribly bad, in TF it runs smoothly so obviously we don’t play the same game or you’re telling us bs.
They don’t use all lanes, I’ve built a city highway in my city in C:S from one end of the city to the other and there are several wide alternative routes.
But they all wait patiently on one lane in an artificial traffic jam on the highway.

I don’t know about CiM 1 and 2, but I can’t imagine, how you could do it worse than in TF which doesn’t mean, that the Public Transport in TF is bad.

You complain about a lack of communication? Are you on drugs or what?
They communicate in a reasonable matter of time, One of the devs himself personally communicates in the forums on a regular basis.
And that “they don’t give a fuck about our wishes” is so horribly wrong, obviously you’re not a buyer of the first hour.
Many wishes of the community got fulfilled, for example smaller savefiles, waypoints, upgradeable tracks, the whole Upgrademechanic for trains and vehicles, the USA DLC and it is for free!!!

So, Pasi, stop writing Colossal Order Fanboy shit and telling crap about UG, they’re on the ball and they do it good, compare Train Fever from Release date to Train Fever what it is now, it has improved hugely in cooperation with the community and it will do so in the future.

Mikael is one of the devs, you can see him posting here from now and on, I guess, they’ll take notice of the suggestions here, since they fixated the thread ontop of the forum ๐Ÿ˜‰
It would be nice to have ย feature to allow the user to start vehicle replacement instantly.
It is there, just send your train to depot and you can exchange the train vs. a modern one.
That Vehicles disappear and a new one gets teleported onto the tracks is alrdy hurting the boundary of authenticity, we mustn’t exceed that further.

My own suggestions to the devs:

1) Real Flat maps, the “Flat” option is maybe Flat in Switzerland, but real flatland maps aren’t in the game without mods (you know without the hills and so on).

2) X-Switches and the possibility to let a track go over two other tracks via a switch

3) Adding of Coastal maps with Islands and the possibility to use ships to deliver cargo and passengers across the seas and rivers (The last one is a longterm goal of course)

4) Multiplayer ( for example 4 Players = 4 Companies striving to dominate and take over the other 3 companies), AI Companies for SP, Stockmarket Exchange and maybe events which have an influence on the game world and the traffic.

5) Bigger Maps would be nice to have, in the end on a continent scale like in Railroad Tycoon 3 but thats also a longterm goal in my opinion.

6) Buffers at the end of tracks, either automatically or buildable.

7) The possibility to change the route of Lines just by dragging them around.

8) A Planning Feature for building buildings and tracks, I like that Feature very much in Prison Architect and it would help to avoid some not foreseeable “Terrain collision” errors ๐Ÿ˜‰

Omg,

Colossal Order has made some games before C:S, it’s not their first title, TF is the First title of Urban Games and Urban Games doesn’t have such a powerful Publisher on their side like Colossal with Paradox.
Remember Paradox? They’re those guys who make f**kin millions of money with titles like EU IV, CK II, HoI 3, Victoria II etc etc.

So they alrdy have knowhow and more importantly much more cash at their hand to develop games and take your time, Urban Games hadn’t that much cash on their hands, otherwise they wouldn’t have started with a dev team of somewhat 5 guys.

So you can’t compare the two, the only more bizarre comparisons you could make are Urban Games vs. EA and Urban Games vs. Ubisoft or in RL Terms the State of San Marino vs the United States!

So the only comparable things are the games itself.
What could Urban Games learn from C:S? The Simulation code, the game runs smoothly on 70k Citizens, thats impressive and TF could flourish from this, if they could manage to bring this code into TF or a possible TF 2, more immersion because the Cities have real numbers, not a number divided down by 100.

And what could Colossal learn from TF?
1) The Traffic AI is ridicoulously bad in C:S. We’ve got highways with 3 free lanes and the AI-cars are waiting in a line with 2 free lanes to chose but no they wait patiently.
And then you build a subway and bus lanes to get the traffic away from the streets and from the 33.000 people in your city onlyย  1200 consider taking them and the rest still wants to wait in the traffic jam.
Are you fucking serious?
2) Mass Transit Management, TF has the clear advantage here.
3) Game Difficulty. You know why C:S is so popular? Being better than Sim City 4 or anything else in that Genre isn’t the only factor here, it is incredibly easy.
You build a few streets, electricity and water and you’re good to go, as soon as you hit a certain threshold of citizens, and the threshold is incredibly low, around 500 or something, you gain money, no matter what you do and expanding the city is as easy as stealing candy from babies.
And thats the problem of the game, although, the hyped masses don’t recognize it yet.
The game is a fucking no brainer and no one wants a no brainer.
The gamers want at least a little challenge and C:S poses no challenge where as Train Fever poses this challenge.
In Medium Difficulty it proves to be a reasonable challenge, on hard it is really hard.

So, if a game has a mixed review on steam like TF has, this is not a bad sign. More in the contrary, this is a quality mark, because Todays gamer is a f*cking lazy id*ot, who want’s no challenge and runs around with cheats in FPS games.

So to finish this.
If you don’t like this game or the devs for reasonable points, it’s your right to express those points on the forums.
But don’t express unreasonable points and silly comparisons on the forums, that helps no one.

If you care about the game, thats fine but don’t express that by calling the devs bad names, that’s just childish and stupid.
Be objective when you critize something.

The Point, that you have American looking Towns with French/Italien/German Names is, that the game uses a namelist according to the language in which you play the game.
If you play Train Fever in French, you get French Names.
This can be changed for sure, but atleast you know, why it is the case and for sure, there are town/streetname mods out there to give you American Names ๐Ÿ™‚

They’re new comers in the business who work hard, who keep us up to date and who update the game regulary and fast and with features, that the players asked for.
Autoreplacement feature? A wish of the community, they made it true.
Opening Animations for depots and train cars? Wish by the community.
Waypoints? Wish by the community.

Sure, it was unstable in the beginning and lacked some features like ingame management of savegames and huge savefiles but the game got massively improved since september.
You don’t know so much service and customer friendliness or FREE DLC’S from big developers and publishers like Ubisoft or EA.

I can’t confirm that, in my game right now I built a very long double track tunnel leading under ariver and under a whole city before it surfaces again and it’s double-tracked.
Have you tried adjusting the terrain manually before building the tunnel entrance?

The Graphical Glitch still exists after months.
I don’t know, if that, what I experienced today has something to do with it or not but when I saw those glitches and experienced with changing graphics, but nothing new here only geometry reduced the problem but didn’t solve it entirely, and tried zooming in and out in and out, my game froze.
I had to shut it down and I saw, my Firefox, with some active YouTube-Windows in it, was totally white, nothing to see there, had to shut it down via Taskmanager.
I only know this Firefox bug from problems with the Adobe Flash Player.
So I’m not sure, if this is a separate and new problem or if this has something to do with the graphical glitch.

I recently started playing again, but this square glitch is still there with exact the same behaviour.
An update from dev side, if you know something new or even a fix is in sight, would be very nice ๐Ÿ™‚

You can use two public transport lines to serve each way of a ring line. The passengers will take the line and thus direction, which provides faster transport to their destination.

It’s the standard screenshot key of Steam, the F12-Button.
After closing the game, a steam window pops up and shows you the screens you made and you also can show them on your disk.

To answer question 2:

Yes there are speed limits, on the dirt roads outside the cities vehicles can go maximum 40 km/h
In the cities, there are limits because of curves and the type of road. Vehicles can drive only slowly over the old city roads from the 19th century.
But as then and in the 20th/21st Century, the modern roads, they have also limitations because of the size of the road.
So you can only achieve maximum speed with a vehicle on a straight, big 4-lane road with enough free space and no stops in front of the vehicle.
Thats why I don’t use the fastest vehicles in some cities, because they can never achieve their maximum speed and thus produce unnecessary maintenance costs.
