I set all settings to lowest, I am on an SSD, still freezes for about 20 seconds, and zooming out gives a frame rate of 20~ I have to remain zoomed in for a decent framerate!

On my current large map I have around 400 road vehicles, 30 trains, and at the end of each month on the 30/31st it will freeze for about 20-30 seconds, game is borderline unplayable. I have AMD 6300 4.2 (overclocked) R9270x, 8 gig ram. Win 8 64

I have abvout 8 citys 1000+ pop, my largest being 1600.

My workaround is to only have the game Playing minimized while I play something else, and come back, Pause it, then build new lines ETC, hit play, minimize, play something else come back 30 mins later to see how its getting on, this is not really the way I should have to play this game!

Some games do offer downgrades, EU4 does, you can revert to previous versions in the options by right clicking the game in steam, its under beta participation although its not a beta its a previous version.  Not sure why u would want to downgrade train fever tho! in EU you kinda have to if you load a game with mods that are not compatible with the new version

I will be happy with them just adding an entrance both sides and allow non train passangers to walk through. Ie if you have 2 bus lines on each side of the train station pedestrians shoukd walk through the station to change bus,s.

The game does not really handle schedules however and it would mean a varying frequency or bus’s just waiting longer when they do stop to keep the frequency/ spacing. I am annoyed by how long Trams wait at stations, if I have a city to city bus route stopping at the same stop as an inner city tram, the tram seems to sit there for ages before moving on.

Better bus stations! Currently a bus station will only handle 30 people per line, thats no good if I put my bus station outside my train station, and 2 trains pull in at the same time and 100+ people get off and try and get on local trams/ bus’s! Most disappear back home as the bus station is “full”. Bus stops seem to be able to hold 40-80 people depending on where there placed/ how much space around them (hills, corners, junctions seem to lower the number of people that can use them)

yea man its pretty good, you missed it on sale recently, it will prob come up on the Steam Xmas sale if you can wait. Ur asking on the game forums here so most people that reply will say yea, because if the game wasn’t;t worth playing we wouldn’t be here talking about it!

    AMD 6300 4.2hz (overclocked)

    R9 270X 2gig

    8gig DDR3 ram

    SMALL MAP SIZE

if I ZOOM OUT and Scroll, framerate 10-20. Appalling performance when zooming in/ out. Game is bearly playable,

I have all GFX on the lowest, I can play other demanding games at 60 frames no issues.

Just looking over a big city, in the year 1860 with a few bus routes running through, not touching the mouse framerate hovers around the 20-25 mark, why is this so bad? Recently fresh installed the game. Only way to get 60 is to zoom in as far as possible on a patch of grass far away from any citys!

I delete/ redesign problem junctions alot of the traffic often stems from 1 junction. If you have tram station then a tram depo next to each other with 2 junctions in close proximity, the AI seem to wait till the junctions are clear before driving through this leads to just 1 car going through the section at a time and a build up of traffic in both directions, so I just delete the tram depo and the traffic moves free again.

Don’t delete the city to city links, build more, my hub city is where 3 lines terminate, so I built a road going to the first city on each of the lines (1 was already in place) it spread the road traffic out and despite a pop of 1200 the city is traffic free and still 85% line usage,

I have road lines making 3M a year with goods when the fast lorrys come around. With a train line profits are rarely above 2M and thats serving multiple towns.  It takes too long for the industry lines to start producing IMO, if you start with an untouched industry producing 1/25 and you build a line across 5 towns needed a combined 400 goods it takes 30 years for the industry to actually produce that much, so in order for the line to work and be frequent I have these expensive trains running with 3/120 goods at time to these citys making -5m a year for 10+ years. It should pick up production faster IMO!

I aim to keep goods frequency of 5 mins maybe this is too much if I go much higher I find the industry just sit there at 0/25 in my latest attempt, go to forest, go to woodshop, go through 3 towns, I gave up after it sat at 0/25 “line usage yes” frequency 4 mins, rage scrapped the entire line and replaced it with road that was a waste of 10M+ the cost of running 4 trains. for several years.

I get around the train problem by just not building signals between stations (unless its a really long gap between) it keeps the trains spread out mostly,

I notice at my busiest train stations where I have passengers transferring to local tram via tram stations they only hold 30 passengers per line it seems, I will have my line 18 tram with a frequency of 40 seconds going up the center of my biggest city dropping people off, before turning around and picking people up again, when a full train arrives (this city is where 3 lines meet and terminate in the corner of the map) 50+ people want to get onto the line 18 tram however they cant as the stops full and teleport home.

People should seek an alternative route or walk if the stops full I hate seeing a big crowd of people walk to my tram station and disappear. I have now removed all tram/ bus stations from my citys and just use stops which seem to allow more people to wait, its still around 50~ max it really bugs me! When 3 trains pull into the station around the same time it can be 200+ people coming out, a large number will want to get the tram, the trams in 2000 onwards carry 20+ people so all it takes is a few tram loads to wisk them away instead I see the trams leaving the station empty because half the potential passengers have been teleported away. Same thing for cargo stations, I usully set my lines up as

Oil pump, Wait for full load

Oil refinery drop oil and take cargo if its there (pick up goods)

City to drop off goods. repeat

However the goods in the refinery station (even if I build the large) get wasted as the station only holds 18. WTH the lorry holds more than that! Its stupid!

I also noticed one of my large citys was not getting goods, an oversite by me, It needed 150, so I thought ahh train line shall do this. Connect a forest to the wood cutting place. The forest is producing 1/25 the 2 trains on the line cost a total 3m a year, have to have multiple because if its not frequent the line wont work

2 years later, its now producing 10/25

5 years later its finally producing 25/25 and an upgrade is scheduled

20 years later its finally producing 150, what the city needed why the hell does it take so long for industry to start meeting the demand of citys, and only now making a profit, after 15 years of running at a loss.

Click layers, show zones, its in the bottom right of the screen.

It shows residential commercial and industrial areas, lighter colours are higher value which usually means high rise/ high pop structures so putting your Bus/ tram stops there in feeder to the stations gives people a faster route to your railway.

I usually just have a route going in a straight line through the most densely packed part of the city, turning around at the last stop and coming back down the line, this enables people coming to the city routes to work/ home and people going out of the city a route to the train station (or bus station if your using road vehicles to connect a few citys) make sure you bus lane the route as the traffic gets retarded, bring on the traffic lights.

grr so jelly whenever I get a few citys with 1,000 pop the framerate has dropped to about 5 FPS and starts periodically freezing for 30 seconds at a time

    my spec

    Windows 7 64

    AMD 6300 3.6 ghz (overclocked)

    R9270x

    8 gig ram.

why does the game run so bad? I have all settings on Low although with my spec I should be able to run on high, I can run on high with a solid 60 early game but once I have around 100 vehicles and the Cars start spawning, its game over I end up rage quitting its so laggy. I tried on a medium map and the same happened too, might try small next :/
