Thanks Steve. Good insight and very nice models.

Actually, I’m stepping away from over 10 years in the TV industry where I’ve been doing a lot of tech-heavy things for live broadcasts as well as post-production such as color grading and visual effects. Due to fewer jobs openings and at much lower pay than ever before, I’m going to take a couple of years pursuing the 3D hobby I’ve had for just as long as I’ve been working with TV.

The school will be teaching mainly Maya, but I’ve used LightWave and a CAD plugin for all these years, which I think will be a valuable asset. I’m looking forward to learn Maya, and will absolutely utilize some of the things I learn with LightWave as well.

JM764, you mention in your latest video that a savegame are huge. Hundreds of megabytes.

Where are they saved? In the folder where the game is saved or in the user accounts folder (documents or similar) ?

I might need to get myself a new hard drive for Windows if that’s the case. :/

Steve, magnificent piece of work. I’d love to see more.

What’s your secret sauce to modeling? I had a go at a Stadler Flirt (NSB Type 74) with splines today. Worked like a charm yet tons to learn, as I’ve mostly done airport hangars, terminals and other kind of buildings – and never even touched vehicles.

I didn’t mean for an avalanche of negative critisism to go your way. I’m sorry my reply sounds as negative as it does, and I regret the fact that I didn’t let the steam out on something else.

I was so fed up after watching 4-5 other videos where there was mostly just babble, and at the end of the line, there was your video, thus it was easy to give it all to you.

    I’m sorry Pschlik!

Sounds like a really harsh review more than a “let’s play” and I get a notion that most of the things you’re bashing and raging and yelling about should go to the devs instead of the public.

You spent 10 minutes doing this, and end it with “I’m not here to suggest to the devs, I’m here to play”. I’m sorry – what? It’s a BETA. You’re fortunate to be in on a beta, and SHOULD absolutely talk to the devs about the stuff you threw out there and let them decide what to do with your feedback.

Without a doubt the best english video so far. Looking forward to the next one, even though the game crashed and you possibly lost it all.

My mistake. I didn’t know what. They haven’t said anything about E3 on their website at all, only GamesCom have been mentioned for these type of events.

However, I’m sure things are developing in a good pace and the beta players do what they’re supposed to do, and the game will be out on time September 5

I’m not here to say who’s a bitch and who’s not, but it’s rather rude either way to tell others they are.

Maetel, I don’t recall them saying they were going to E3, thus you jumped to conclusions when you went there. I hope you had a good time looking at other games and events though.

The developer of this game is a small team and are based in Europe, even Germany if I’m not mistaken. So the fact that they go to a huge venue in their own country instead of E3 to show off their first game doesn’t strike me as a bad or weird move at all.

It’s less than a month to release. We’ve waited for ever for a game like this. I’m sure we can wait a a few weeks more.

It doesn’t matter what tools you use, but how well you can use the tools you prefer.

Whether that’s Blender, Max, Maya, LightWave, SketchUp, AC3D, Rhino, Houdini, you name it.. If you don’t know the tool, you won’t produce well.

If SketchUp is your thing, go with it!

I on my hand will focus on how to get models in the game first. Then I’ll start thinking of making mods.

For all we know, the framerate of the recording may be locked to 30fps while the game in fact ran at 60fps.

Here’s a video I did, demonstrating the height map import feature that was added recently to the maps4cim tool mentioned in the post above.

You guys probably know about it already. I searched on YouTube to see if they had published anything else, and found this.
