    Awesome first pic! 😀

Hm.. I admit you’ve got the point these exist, especially near stations, I agree. But these are for junction reasons not crossing. When 1 2-track splits into 2 2-tracks for example. But still agree with me they are inefficient because the train on the crossing track makes incoming train wait for it to cross, and vice versa. In the second drawing there’s a conflict between the Up Southburry and Dn Cambridge lines. In absolutely all new constructions I’ve seen in Belgium, Germany or Switzerland they always use the bridge over the track, the motorway-style.

But yes, near stations where speed is slower these are quite helpful.

Yepp, just had it yesterday – a train was headed direction from the station, about 200m from it.

Hit pause, demolish the station, and oops – the train is reversed..

Same symptoms like creating bus stops sends all poor pedestrians in the area into a wormhole 😀

no big deal though since the game is awesome 🙂

F2Andy, Train Fever IS a good game! And it’s very, really very easy to be profitable. In average from 1850 I’m at $150 mil by 1900.

I feel the will to love this game in you, and believe me once you’ll understand the basic rules you’ll be on the 7th sky of happiness of this game.

Skype me on “colink_mike”, I would gladly show you LIVE how to start this game properly.

Sorry guys, but diamond crossings almost never used in Europe. So it’s understandable it’s not one of first features in the game. Diamond crossing means traffic lights, and the train stops not-on-the-station to wait for another train to pass. In fact, transport companies pay heavy penalties for any off-station stops or even slow-downs. Taking into account busyness, speeds and strict timetables here in Europe the diamond crossings are simply unimaginable.

It’s like putting a crossing with traffic lights on a highway – can you imagine that? Also, one train slows down means all the following will have to slow down or stop. Loss of lots of money.

However I agree that aesthetically the diamond crossing is an awesome thing; it exist and managed in modern life in many countries. So it should be implemented.

    Nice try simon 😉

I think DEVs must obey some legal obligations regarding their remuneration. If the game isn’t in crowdfunding state anymore, I doubt they have a right to receive money directly.

Anyways, I think Steam also deserves a cut for keeping the PC platform alive these days.

So buy some additional copies for your friends! :o)

Awesome mod homie, finally I could disable that annoying smoke in towns. However, any idea if stand-alone industries can produce smoke? Would be awesome to vary the output depending on production.

You can mod every detail of any vehicle in the game. You can open with Notepad the corresponding .mdl file and change the specs you want. That’s what I did for Tank Wagons for example – reduced capacity and maintenance cost, so more wagons are needed for the same amount of cargo, thus making trains longer and keeping yearly costs the same.

I don’t remember the exact path to model files, but it should be something like ..\res\model\models\vehicle\train\.

Also one of the latest game patches introduced simplified modding – you can script your mods in the \mods folder and enable/disable them dynamically inside the game. I think they released a special documentation on that.

    Well, it actually solves!

The key is to deliver goods to towns who demand them, and mining industries will follow.

Even with the very first version of the game I had one Oil Well, train to Oil Refinery, and from there i delivered goods to 5 cities, close ones by trucks, further ones by trains. The production went up to 200 in 2 years; and with cities growth, in 20-25 years 400 production was not enough for 5 cities, so i had to use more sources.

All and beautiful trains with 8-10 tank wagons, and now with easily customizable wagons capacity you can have really long trains if you wish.

I don’t understand anything from your German but I think the bad performance comes from CPU and not graphics card.
Did you tried to lower the resolution to see if it changes things?

Welcome homie to The Main Connection suffering community.

Guys, we’re not talking about completely removing the feature, but first correcting bugs within it to make it playable.
For the first, as in real life, level crossings are to be avoided! Bridges and tunnels must be used instead, and to do that you need to build a longer bypass, and the game does not allow it.
Second, it limits the freedom of building your network. I want to place the station near town, in the way to optimally connect tracks from other towns, and have less curves to increase the approaching speed. Again, to do that, a long bypass must be created for existing routes, and the game does not allow that.
Also, building high speed lines is impossible with Main Connection feature. You have less freedom in curves to go around existing routes if you are to keep it to 300 kmh, and building a bridge or tunnel is impossible, again, because bypasses are not allowed.

This feature removes the freedom of building the system how you’d like it to be built.
Sure, some people like the challenges of fitting the new network into an existing network, but I would like to shape my network as I wish. And when I had it for 200+ hours of gameplay and suddenly it’s removed, I cannot accept it.
And I’m pretty sure my opinion represents > 50% of playing community.
