You where complaining about people complaining was you not?
Also, this really isn’t an 18+ game, I don’t see why you had to include some ‘bad language’ in your post. Maybe you should think about showing some respect to other forum users / viewers.

    People are pathetic.

Generalisation if ever I saw one.  Are you not in the ‘People’ category then?

    1. People are entitled to their opinions
    2. If nobody spoke up about anything, nothing would be improved ever (ok well mostly).

Are you enjoying the improvements of the last few patches?  Thank those who complain.

Sometimes people may take it a bit far yes, but looking stupid and being pathetic is a bit strong don’t you think. An example of taking it too far right there.

Make a copy of your save and perhaps pass it on to the Dev’s somehow so they can see the issue in action.
Especially if its 100% reproducible in the same area.. That’s what I would do anyway.

10k people is peanuts. Modern computer should be able to manage several hundred thousands of those.

Or, if Colossal Order succeed where maxis failed, 1 million+

I don’t disagree, but in the context of this game, it obviously can’t handle it at the moment, neither can Simcity, hence the fudged numbers from the start and the shoebox village sized maps with that.

Colossal Order may do it different… but those are city builders hence different games.  Cim2 is comparable, being it is a transport game with lines / routes / civs / PG cities… and for me, the performance in that is a stable 60 fps.

    Cancel citizen´s simulation,

I don’t agree with removing the citizen’s simulation, but I don’t think we need 10,000 of them doing their thing all at once, surely something in this area could go a long way to performance improvements…

How much attention is paid to these 10,000 civs?  Don’t get me wrong, I like the fact that the world is alive, it would be dull with no civs wandering… but essentially they are nothing more than a number..  1 more passenger for the train, or 1 more car for that long 5 year traffic jam to work..

Take 50% of them away and double the bus/train ticket prices and I doubt I would notice the difference, maybe even enjoy it more due to less traffic build-up and no doubt increased performance.  Of course, I don’t know what effect it would really have but… nm

Regarding trucks getting stuck in inter city traffic, I use bus lanes along the cargo route. This prevents them getting held up when the crazy traffic strikes.

Of course, this doesn’t help when slower trucks hold faster ones up, but personally, I don’t mix them and have the same speed trucks on the same routes.

Time is compressed versus animation speed, so working out the distance this way would never be realistic.
Its a game after all, having it realtime would be a little ridiculous, but if you factor this in, then you should be able to calculate it.

However, it has been mentioned before that many think the compressed time is a little too much and could do with being tweaked or an option added to control this, so rather than an in game day taking ~3 seconds (Not in front of it at the moment so a guess) that an ingame day should maybe take 4x this or even 10x this, or adjustable.

Yes, I mostly run without afterburner (or any background software i.e fraps), these where so that I could show what was happening, or in regards to afterburner, what was happening over time.

Just so you know, I will follow this up with Basil over the next day or so.

And finally… here is a comparison against CIM2, zooming in, out traversing the map, following a vehicle… FPS rarely drops below 55fps is smooth as butter and a lot more ‘dense’.. I know the simulation aspect is a little different, but even so.

Opening multiple vehicle windows / line menus etc does not kill the performance, like it does in TF either.. but thats due to the PIP.   CIM2 has vsync on hence the maxing out at 60fps.

Then… this is another TF one, showing initially me looking top down at an empty field between two cities, getting 200fps.. admittedly not much to render…About 1/2 way in, I open the lines menu, select a vehicle, click follow and close the popup windows…

And yes, the huge spikes are the end of month transactions which appear to be split into 4 processes and lock up everything else for a brief period.

Anyway, no more edits or additions… I hope at some point in the future the devs can make improvements.

Also, if I leave the game running and look out of the map, I get 120+ FPS with vsync disabled.  The simulation is not causing the performance drop, otherwise it would surely show during that.  Aside from the end of month of course

Fact is, 15fps is simply not playable, the mouse cursor is affected badly, the game is not smooth at any point.
How people scraping the minimum spec’s are getting on with this, I don’t know.

I am not expecting 100fps nor 60fps, but even a smooth 30fps is unobtainable.
I guess I will return to playing the game if their are further optimisations for performance, if not… I’m now done.

I don’t see a solid 100% cpu load, I see a momentary spike which is occurring during the end of month transactions, which cause a small pause.  But that does not explain the low overall performance.

The two cores in use, being CPU1, 3 and  5,7… are usually between 25% and 35% (hyperthreading ofc) but the end of the month also seems to affect the remaining cores too.  The end of the month pause is not a major concern, its the 15fps.

I’m just going to leave this here….

This was recorded with afterburner, loading a game on the highest graphics settings and following a train using the default view when choosing follow, through 3 cities.

In the middle, I changed graphics to the lowest (all of them) and did the identical thing.
Not a great deal of difference between the two settings.

FPS is quite simply, dreadful.  GPU usage is ~ 15%  CPU Usage is equally low.

I have no idea how the requirements for the game are so low, when I exceed them by huge proportions and it performs this bad… anyway, enjoy the charts…

It’s currently paused since I lost interest in TF. Sorry about that.

    🙁 That’s a shame, your mod’s are awesome.

Any reason in particular for you losing interest?

Here’s one I think would be pretty awesome…. Automatic season change from current textures to winter textures for a few months.  There is no denying, it looks awesome when it snows 😀

    @Farani,

Did you use the mod manager?  If not, I recommend it.  It backs up the files etc and can activate / de-activate mods.
Also, you can do a verify of game-cache in steam if you really need to.
